Project Z38. Fosho99/Nvsridez Build

So, over the winter me and Fosho99 have been working on this project for a friend of ours. We started with a 93 Lumina Z34, and a 98 Gtp. Why wouldn't we build the L67 and throw it in the Lumina? Ideas were tossed around, and we decided to give it a go. The L67 is a mild build; Cam, springs, ported lim, blower, tb, headers, 3.2 setup. Almost everything is custom; axles, fuel lines, exhaust, firewall, motor mounts, steering rack, wiring harness, etc. We refreshed all the gaskets, cleaned everything up nice, and began putting it in. Last night, we got to the stage where the L67 is bolted in. I figured I'd share our progress with the gpforums world. Enjoy.
(Pics are not in order, but you get the idea)

Nice project. I'd like to see how it will perform in the end. Are you also swapping that block of wood on the GTP's windshield? =P

Here are some more specifics and information on this build, I better put it out there before we forget...

Engine:

L67 1999 longblock
S1X cam
105# valve springs
New stock timing chain/dampener
Powdercoated Gen3 blower
SSAC? Headers

Tranny:
Stock 1999 4T65E HD, We'll see how long we can get her to last...

Axles:
4T65E HD inner shafts
Lumina outer shafts
4T65E HD passenger side shaft
Lumina drivers side shaft
Hopefully they last, car has been lowered...

Subframe:

Lumina subframe
Lumina steering rack, "custom" power steering lines to L67 power steering pump
New L67/L36 motor mount
Lumina Trans mount, still good, but we also had L67 mount that did not directly bolt-in

Wiring:
Combination of a 98-99 lumina/monte 3.8L harness and 93 lumina harness, sent to Brian Teel.

Firewall:
Had to cut out a bump in firewall to accomodate the headers. Was literally welded shut with JBweld and hit with spray on undercoating. Professionals envy us.

Fuel:
We will be installing a walbro 255 fuel pump, we have to drop the tank for that. We also have to go with custom fuel lines because the one's in the engine bay are too short. Hopefully we will be getting some 42# inj. to make the cam happy.

PCM:
The 99 gtp pcm will be custom tuned by me. It should be fun.

Deleted:
We drew out circles on the garage walls labeled "delete" button we then hit them when deleting crap.
Evap crap
Egr crap
A/C
Theres a ton more, can't think of them right now, probably because they were deleted.

Alcohol:

Lots of alcohol was consumed. It was probably the only thing that kept us motivated after near death experiences during this project we won't discuss again. I'm talking personal safety was something we took very lightly in this build, but the alcohol played a factor in that too.. haha

Busch + Engine swaps= major win! Busch was brewed with engine swaps in mind and to complement grease, proven fact, learned that in florida from and alcoholic crackhead

Also sweet build, love those body Luminas, gotta see some burnout vids when shes done!

sweet I loved my 92 lumina Sad that its exhaust sounded better then my 98 gtp
sold it for 1000 with oil leaks a blown heater core and over 200k on it

thats pretty sweet.

how long ya'll been workin on it???

Well, we started on it around October. We only work 1 night a week, for about 3 hours, then sit on our bottoms and think/drink for another 2 hours. The project has been on hold since early January, and was started up again this week.

It's been a lot of waiting for parts before we could go onto the next step. So we basically drink and do what we can that week.

Basically all were waiting on now is the wire harness to be made/paid for. Then find some fuel lines, buy and install fuel pump, reassemble topend of motor, reassemble front half of car, fill fluids, convert to OBD2 and tune pcm, start and check for problems then have a breakin period and get an exhaust made. This adds up real fast $$ so it will have to be taken slowly to fit our friends budget.

yea, looks pretty sweet. seems like you guys are doing a pretty good job. always cool to see projects like this.

do you think the lumina axel is gonna break??

do you think the lumina axel is gonna break??

Hoping for the best but expecting the worst. If the car had stock springs or ride height, then I'd be more confident in them. With the lowering springs and extra weight of this engine/tranny, not to mention the lowering springs were already custom lowered further using a torch, I'm worried about the shafts being too long and the angle at which they are going to be sitting at. They could either break or put strain on the transmission in which some people have lost .2-.3 in the quarter mile because of this.

Nice. I'm definitely going to keep an eye on this. There are some Z34s around here but ones in that shape are few and far between.

We got the harnesses ready to be sent out to Brian Teel to be made into 1 complete harness;).

We also got the topend of the motor assembled and complete:
