I have a 97 and swapped a later blower on a few years ago. There is a difference. The 97 has a vacuum tube coming out of the top towards the front with two lines coming off of it; one goes to the fuel pressure regulator. The tube is black and sucured by one bolt. The later blowers still have the boss for the tube but it is not machined for it. I was able to remachine mine at home with a drill press and a hand drill. I don't have any pics but it was'nt too bad to do. I know that the factory tube is 5/8" in diameter (required 5/8 drillbit in drill press) and then I had to drill underneath at a 90 degree angle (with a 1/4 drill in hand drill) to get the tube to intersect with the underside of the blower ( to get vacuum/boost ). If you look at both blowers side by side you'll see what I mean. Anyway, after drilling that intersecting passage I just sealed it off with a 1/8 pipe plug. I did'nt even realize the difference until I had my original off the car and it was a Sunday. Drove it in to work on Monday. :th_thumbsup-wink:

I just ran into that problem. Is there a way to re-route the vaccum lines? I did look at a vaccum diagram for a later model and it shows a tee on the line that goes to the map to route it to the fuel reg on later years. But after doing that im getting a slight high idle and a high idle code P0507. Could it being ran different be the problem?

^^^that goat has got to b a beast! u still have your drivers licence?lol

I actually got pulled over once and the cop just wanted to check out the car, BS'ed with him for about 15 minutes and he told me to get on it when we left!
I just try not to get to crazy driving around because it does attract a lot of attention.

Ya, you can get around the vacuum lines on your 1997.

When I first got my '97 it had a bad engine, and I installed one with 7 miles from a 1999. Reworked the vacuum lines a little, got it going. I used a Chilton manual from O Reilly's and it gives the diagrams for the different years. I just put two and two together, and wha-la.

I have converted a lot of old 1997 cases to be able to be used on later year engines and not need that ugly vacuum tree. All I did was press in a soft plug, and wha-la.

Oh ya, you all might get a kick out of this DIY cover...this is how the supercharger above arrived to me before I correctly fixed it, and sent it back.
