metal lightbulb shield inside light housing? is it needed or not

yes it is a 2min job. f unplug and pull out the bulb. untwist the black retainer that the bulb sits in. then use one of your fingers inside the whole where the bulb would be and just press up and kinda pull. you will feel it move a little i just rocked it back and forth till i was able to pull it straight out. its not that delicate so you should be alright. and just make sure you put it all back together right after you take it out :)-- and i the bulb may be locked in by the black retainer so either way it still has to come off befor you can get to the shield. if you have any other ?'s let me know :)

Thanks a lot Joe!!!!!!!!!! :th_laugh-pointup:

Yea... They High Beams to me are no different then the low beams... I just took mine out the day before yesterday. Pretty much destroyed the metal thing. When I tried to get the last one, the metal thing fell inside the headlight. fml.. it's ok got it out. I will let you know how they are when the roads are not wet from the snow. Just from looking at the front of the car, they do look brighter.

yea from my experince my highs were the same as my lows. i havnt tried my highs since i pulled them out and dont really need to now. aslong as i can see im fine. weird on the shield falling apart for you. i had no problem getting my out came out rather smoothly.

Did it today... BIG DIFFERENCE, used some needle nose pliers to wiggle and pull it out.
I love free mods!!

lol. now be the first to go drive in the dark and see how well the highs work then come report back :).

reflective signs yes/road paint yes. and both are 100% more visibale with the shield out rather then in.

Haven't been out since I posted (so no high beam test, sorry),, but driving around 830pm tonight I did notice every sign light up like crazy!!

would love to see pics of before/after, and high/low beams. my shields are actually put on from the inside attached with two screws. getting them out will trash em, so i wanna be sure of what im getting.

I f*** up the torqz screw/bolt the one thats on the headlight to adjust up & down.
when i was trying to adjust my hids. after i bought em, the dumbasses that installed em didnt adjust em so i said f*** em ill do it myself, shouldnt of done that haha..
i adjusted the driver side one but when i tryed to fix the passenger side one i f*** it up since it was being a B**** & i did it with some pliers, yeah that was the prob. but its would lossen up even after I sprayed some wd40 on it. so now when i drive around the freeway & well everywhere they all light up like F*** haha..
:D

So yeah the Question now is..
will taking off this metal shield fix the prob like temporarly? :O
or what should i buy now? :p

thanks :)

Sorry to say this, but if you were oncomming traffic against my other car with bi-xenon headlights I would have no issues in letting you guys see what you are doing to other drivers on the road. I plan on putting bi-xenon headlights in the grand prix this summer, using projector headlights built for them. If you want inexpensive improvement get a good set of projector fog lights and install a hid kit in them (blazer brand, clear lense with a cutoff shield)

I took the metal shield out and I really didn't notice a big difference to tell you the truth.

Yes somewhat. But I can still tell the difference between when I have low as compared to high beams on. A little difference...

9007 is the wrong bulb to do this mod with.

The reason i'm so against this is I personally want to ram every car off the road that blinds me :)

Yea.. I'll stick to my H3 Fogs for now... They are better output then the stock heads by a mile....

lol. cant be blinding anyone from my experince cuz not 1 person has shined there highs at me thinking my highs were on. either way im leaving them out until i get my new hids. then they will be going back in. and 98gtp, taking the shield out is no where near as bright as hid's comeing at you so i dunno what your talking about..
