My car is mostly stock and have been battling high amounts of KR (5-8*). I know that the original pulley is still on there, but notice through my scan that at WOT I have gotten up to 9.11 lbs. of boost. I believe this is related to the high KR and was wondering what other factors that could occur over time would increase boost to that level. From what I have read, stock pulley usually generate between 7-8 lbs.

If you don't want to "mod" the car, get the ubend taken out to help open up some flow. Your cat might be getting clogged restricting flow. Try a drop in K&N filter. Do a full tuneup if you haven't already done that, and use premium gas only. If you have done some tuneup work and such, post what you have recently done, and since you say your car is "mostly stock", name the mods you do have. Might help you get better answers.

U-Bend has already been deleted with my recently installed ZZP (stock diameter) downpipe with new cat.

Recently Replaced:
-Plugs and wires
-fuel filter
-fuel injectors
-fuel pump
-fuel pressure regulator

This was all done after I noticed the high KR.

Mods:
-ZZP Downpipe
-Magnaflow Mufflers
-(Others such as, colder plugs, CAI, 180* t-stat have been removed recently but KR existed with and without them)

Not sure how to help you on the KR issue, but as far as boost goes. My SE is running just shy of 10 on the stock pulley. Stock manifolds ;)

Your car just may not flow well as far as the boost goes. Back to the KR..... What octane of gas are you running? I don't know what to tell you if you run premium gas. I'm not that smart yet. Anymore than the obvious issues causing the KR I don't know. Sounds like a deeper issue than the obvious. Could be a timing issue. Just trying to eliminate the obvious and get more info for the smarter guys on this forum to help you. Then we all learn!

From my experience with these cars, tuning numerous 3800's, and my own of course, i can tell you that any * of kr on a stock pulley is all false (assuming you're running recommended fuel) and should be "tuned" out by a tuner. On my DD (which was stock at one time lol) i took her to the track in stock form. I went [email protected] on my first pass with a log showing me 5* of kr. I know for a fact that my car isn't "detonating" so what i did was turn off the knock sensors in this case. I went the very next pass and made a [email protected] changing NOTHING but the knock sensors. It's just not possible for a stock 3800 to have real knock, it's completely fake, period. What it is, sensors that are just way to sensitive. I have not had this situation handed to me with one of my customers cars, but it did with my own, and i took care of it lol.

Some stock L67's knock.

Some stock L36's knock.

You're a ****ing idiot for thinking otherwise, and even more-so for doing a full quarter mile without knock sensors and with 5* of knock retard.

Since you claim to be such a damned expert...turning off the knock sensors...that has to be the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. Care to explain to me why a stock car CAN'T knock? They knock because the flow isn't adequate enough. It isn't rocket science. Another stupid statement...claiming as long as your using the right fuel you won't knock. So your tell me that if I used jet fuel and a 2.8" pulley on a stock car...it'll be ok...I mean, as long as you turn off the knock sensors? Jesus f**king christ.

Ugh, you guys on here have NO experience with anything do you? I know the knock sensors tell you the car is experiencing some sort of "detonation" but as the people that know their face from their ass know that it's FAKE knock. None of you have any experience with anything resulting in tuning, you have no room to talk. 94mph vs 98mph... hmm.... you guys are right the knock was real... NOT. This is why i result in talking you fools down on this forum, you have NO clue what the hell you're talking about 100% of the time.

Have you scanned it with any race fuel added?

changing nothing but the knock sensors? but your sig says you ran that with just a tune. hmmm if your so great at tuning there should have been NO knock. :th_scratchhead:

OK...............take it down a notch.:th_shakinghead1:

Fair warning here guys. Infractions will be given out.

STAY ON TOPIC.

I'm curious as to why you leave the offensive material yet hand out infractions... :th_yawning:

As for on topic, i have heard GM knock sensors are about as reliable as their CPS's.

I misread the post that guy made hence my "offensive post". He changed his knock sensors... Not removed/disabled them.

Unless I am mistaken with that understanding in which case, lets feed him to the dogs. :th_thumbsup-wink:

basically silver, all cars will knock a tad. when my car was n/a it knocked. like i said my buddy's sunfire with a 2200 4 banger knocked. i dont think Gm is very good on their factory tunes.

ok, for a stock 3800 to be "knocking" it would blow up right? How many stock 3800's have you heard of or seen blown up? None right? If you go back to the old days where they check spark plugs instead of some stupid computer that's how they knew. I checked my plugs, which were perfect. Turned the sensors off and trapped 4mph higher...? What the? Yep, it's pulling spark even thought it does need to? Why? Because it's not real? Could that be?!?!?! OMG!!!! Wowowowowowow!!!!!!

And for the other guy asking how it's tuned, uhhhh i turned off the knock sensors... which would be considering altering the stock tune... wow, took a mad scientist to figure that one out.

I know they will knock. His claim was a stock 3800 will not knock and if it does it's false. I just wanted to hear his explanation.
