A buddy at work has an 02 F150 FX4 with a 4.6. its got headers, intake, catback, power programmer and some other small stuff. He's always bragging about how quick his truck is and what he can beat and other bs. We line up from a dig, and i take him off the line hard and by the time i hit 90 mph he's about 7-8 lengths back. then we go from a 30 mph roll, and i stomped him again haha.

You beat a 4 wd with a pup of a motor. Congrats. I guess if he was talking crap that means something
 
yea, the 4.6 is freakin junk, the 5.4 in those isn't half bad though, no speed machine but makes the 4.6 feel like a 4 popper. We hauled a 70 C10 from Ohio to Florida in my buddys 01 4x4 with the 5.4 and never had any issues, ran 90 most of the time and averaged around 14-16, i hate fords and thought about buyin one
 
My dads truck has the 5.4 and its a pretty decent motor. Like you said its no speed machine but they weren't made for speed. I am looking at getting a 04 F150 with the 5.4.

The newer style of trucks are actually pretty nice. I Liked them anyways.
