• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

well guys i am a mentor for my old high school's robotics team. Every year on the first or second saturday of january FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) releases a new game that high schools from around the world have 6 weeks to brainstorm, design, prototype, build and program. I will probably come back with some more details but here is the animation of this year's game they released today.

If you get a chance, check it out and throw some ideas out there. I know there are some engineering types on here so this is the kind of thing you guys love. I'll post the rules up too once i find the link but i know of alot of them. Anyway guys, this is the beginning of 6 weeks of no life. I'll post updates on here and here is a link to the team's website Team Driven Home

Yup, son and I were in it for a year with the Winnebago Il team. Winovation is the name. They have done very well every year the have competed.

The only problem I had was it's a very tightknit group here and viewed us as outsiders. I can say that my idea helped them win one year, although they all thought it was the worst idea they ever heard when I brought it up. Funny how things work out, and I'm surprised they actually gave me credit for the idea. Left a bad taste in my nouth and didn't go back the next year.

I totally understand, our team is very much the same way. However I do feel like i make a good contribution to the team and that is why now as an alumni i am helping mentor through the season. Which year did you work with them?

My HS had robotics competitions for quite a number of years...

These things are plauged by safety regulations and you can actually win or lose based on how closely you follow them.

Watching the vid, seems pretty "intense" :P
