Boost PSI?

my stock boost gause works petty good i dunno what your saying dont go by it lol. it only goes when im actally stepping on gas. if im driving like a old snowbird in there 90's then nothin reads :)

My stock gauge is showing 6 "bars" so thats 4.5 psi, right? :th_tongue2: I'm talking about the autometer. It's f'd up, plain and simple.

the stock gauge is completely useless. those 'bars' mean nothing for numbers. it will read differently every time you step on the pedal.

actually........ in think there is 8 bars total, from what i recall it maxes out at 6psi. so 6 bars might just be 4.5psi........

my stock gauge is relitivley close.

does the stock gauge actually read boost? reason i ask is the vacume line under the sc snout came out... my factory boost gauge was reading boost but my scangauge wasnt registering anything.

Or...GM could have just been smart from day one and put an actual gauge in the dash...like Ford, or Mitsubishi, or Nissan. I mean...they had one in 1986...was it that hard to do it again 11 years later?

do things the way people would like them? wow your insane if that was the case they would have added an IC as well... :th_shakinghead2: o good ol Gm

Forgot about those...I think the Monte had it too. But its a Bowtie...who cares :p

couldnt find any of the impala... but i was lookin at some pics and a video of the monte gauge and its in kpa from -70 to 70. reguardless its still a gauge... but i just thought id share

^^ I was joking there. I agree that the stock gauge is no means of measuring boost. However, it can still be used as a way of detecting the presence of boost, but the levels are unknown. Kinda like if you have a ford f150 and it has the oil pressure gauge that has L and H. Who knows what the oil pressure is as far as psi. All you know is that its detecting oil pressure and supposedly within operating range. That's how I'm referencing my stock boost gauge. My stock gauge says i'm getting some boost. Don't know how much, but my Autometer still sits on the left side of the 0 box.
