OEM Radio stays on

My radio does not shut off when i shut the car off and open the door. im affraid the battery is gonna die in this cold weather. is it possible its something with the door sensor? i seem to remember gm had a feature that if you shut off the car and dont open the doors that the radio will stay on for like 15 minutes. i think thats my problem is its not sensing that the door opened so it just stays on. i shut the radio off and the clock stays on. when i come back to the car i believe the clock is off so its shutting off after 15minutes. but i just got it i havent had much time to test it.

Check your door switch is the first thing I would do. However, mine cuts off after like 10 minutes...even if I don't open the door. But my GP is a 2002

ill see if i can check it out, anything particular to look for? i know my 98 camaro ss had the 10-15min radio stay on feature as well but the second you opened a door it shut off. ill have to check if my interior lights work right too when opening/closing the door.

I would look to see if the door switch is seized.. however if it was... your interior lights shouldnt come on when opening the door.

Also, any other electrical issues in the car? The reason I ask is that these cars have jacked up ignition switches. When my ignition switch went bad, My DIC wouldnt light up, and I lost 1-3 on my A/C. But from my experience..if it was the ignition switch...it wouldnt work period.

yeah im not sure on the interior lights ill have to check, tho im not sure how since when i hit unlock on the remote the int lights come on.

only other electrical issue i can see is the heated seat is not working, the switch and light turn on but no warm seat unless i just didnt wait log enough. it was pretty dang cold out. oh and when i put the car in park and shut it off it doesnt auto unlock the doors. that could be a setting though?

ok so it is definately the drivers door switch, when i open the pass door it immediately shuts off. also the passenger door turns the lights on and the drivers doesnt. so i looked real quick this morning for the door sensor but couldnt find it. is it in the lock mechanism? or by the hinge?

i found what might be the switch. its an almost flat circle button at the top where the door hinges are. my door is sagging, maybe that is making the door not push on that small button enough. you would think they would have made it longer. is that it? when i push the button in and out it doesnt make the lights turn on. so maybe the wiring to it or the switch is bad. i have no idea how to get to it.

nevermind im an idiot that was just a plastic cap for the body holes they have from the factory. i think thats for filling the panels with something to stop rust or sound dampening. it must be in the door where the latch meets the stricker. anyone have experience with this?

so i had the door panel off the other day looking for disconnected wires or switches or anything. i have no idea where the switch is, im thinking it may be part of the latch mechnism. Anyone have any diagrams?
