"We're not in Kansas anymore..."

A customer told her husband today "we're not in kansas anymore" when i said, I" dont have a printout of what size the battery bolt is for a 99 ford explorer"... Like wtf? If you dont' have a socket set, you're ****ed anyways. What do you do? carry ONE wrench?

Her husband went on to say, "I don't know how you guys survive up here."

By thinking perhaps? Ever hear about using your brain? I mean, you couldn't possibly if you saw bush was ****ing up then put him back in there AGAIN. :th_thumbsup-wink:

Apparently in Kansas if you don't read the manual first you're an idiot. I like to think if you can do it flawlessly without even touching the manual then you're actually knowledgeable.:th_biggrin2:

Do you think they were really from Kansas because that's a phrase people say when things are going wrong. Quote from "Wizard of Oz"

I'm from Kansas and I only read the manual when i can't find things other places. I bet i've cracked my car manual 3 times in 4 years. BTW i hate that saying! Whatever happened to Trial & Error. Get one off the shelf that looks similar and try it out and i totally agree with you they should try to put a wrench on it. Some people make us normal Kansans look retarted!

well about bush tho, did u see the other dumb bastard he was up against. gotta choose the lesser of evil. well now we're really f*cked. u voted for who?

I have people that come into my store ALL THE TIME that will ask me to look up a bolt head size, then get pissy when I tell them we have no way to look that information up. I can somewhat understand when they're asking about axle nut sizes, because those are like $15 each. And, comparing them to new ones isn't always accurate, either, as the new ones we carry are usually different than the OEM's.

Tell the to buy ALLDATA

Looks interesting... ShopKey will have to do for now though.

We just rent a kit with all the common axle nut sizes. Free too.

People like free stuff, especially if that means someone spending 5 minutes of their time to look up something that takes maybe 30 seconds to figure out via trial and error. 2 minutes if you're not so good... Even then, isn't that less than standing around at the counter for 5 minutes to get nothing?

i have NEVER seen alldata tell you a head size unless its like an axle nut or something else off the wall. And on top of that if there to damn stupid to figure out what size bolt something is, they shouldn't be touching it in the first place

what i did was to show them the help section with the book, if their that "smart" they'll figure it out. we did it like that at advance auto parts and when i was managing the now defunk "western auto". gotta luv them customers , even the dumb a$$ es

You guys have a multi-piece kit? You work at AZ, right? Can you get me the part number for the kit so I can try and get it ordered into my store?

I work at Canadian tire... who also owns PartSource, which ironically DOES have a fair bit of information like plug gap size etc...

"i come from canada and they think im slow, eh"

1,000,000 points if you know what thats from
