does anybody kno any simple upgrades for the engine? like a good cold air intake and throttle bodies?? please helpppp thanks

Yeah that or milzymotorsports.com but on the real there's not much for our engines. They do sell a 65mm throttle body wich looks pretty nice and as for the intake what I was gonna do was get an ebay one and get better couplings and a K&N filter.

Most of these guys on the forum think that the 3.8 is the cat's meow, but take it from someone who has had a 98 GT, 2004 Impala LS 3.8, and a 2001 buick Lesabre with 3.8, and the 3.8 is no high performance engine by any means compared to true Hipo motors. With that said, the 3.1 is always looked down upon, but believe me with some very minor mods this motor is as good as a stock 3.8 (reference my comments above) with better mileage.

I have a 2001 GP SE 3.1 with 100,000 miles on the motor and recently put on GMPP exhaust (this system is a magnalfow 2.5 inch all stainless mufflers (duals), resonator, and 2.5 inch pipes but not advertised as such) with a U Bend delete. I was shocked at how much power the car has now-equivalent to the stock 3.8-no kidding-That comment pisses off all the 3.8 owners out there but true and fact!!!

Because it doesnt come from the factory with a supercharger and it has faulty gaskets...

and is totally ball less and a L67 can get BETTER mpg's if you keep your foot light. This dude is an idiot and compares 3.8's to big block chevys and thinks they should be a close match. Keep your 3.1 stock, replace your LIM gasket as often as possible and be happy with what ya got, then search for a GTP later

BTW, this guy also thinks his exhaust gave him 40 hp in his 3.1! Which is already underpowered by an L67 by 80 hp at the crank! Look it up! and about 95 torque. If you can get that kind of power out of your 3.1 without internals, good luck. Then at that point you have a time bomb that still can't hang with an L67, you'll blow every tranny you put on it, and then on top of that you wont get **** for gas mileage! Point for me....

I am not comparing a 3.1 to a 3.8SC. The comparison is to a normally aspirated 3.8. They all have faulty intake gaskets, not just the 3.1's-incorrect information.

Not any less ball less than a 3.8 with 200-205 HP or even a 3.8SC with 240 HP-My Chrysler 300 with a 3.5L has 250 HP-I try to provide some reference to my comments including owning numerous other cars with 3.8's including a 98 GT and you guys go nuts. Have you owned 3 GM cars with the normally aspirated 3.8's AND a 3.1 to make the comments that you do, besides using the term "idiot"?

Obvously, you did not read what I said about the exhaust change since I did not compare my 3.1 to a 3.8SC but to a normally aspirated 3.8, not the SC, which is pretty pathetic making only 240 HP with a SUPERCHARGER. I did not say the exhaust change is good for 40 HP either more like 25 HP on the 3.1L. have you done that change? If not then, your comments have no merit. As for blowing tranny's, the 3.1 and 3.8 normally aspirated both use the same 4T65E tranny and the 3.8 makes 200 HP so why would a 3.1 making 200 HP blow tranny's?

Wrong! Have you done this mod to a 3.1, genius?

How about stop with the name calling there turbo? Have you done this mod? Fine...do you have dyno sheets to prove it is AWESOME? Doubt it. And your 3.1 still makes MAYBE 150 to the tire.

Why are you comparing apples to oranges? The 60* V6 and the 90* V6 are two totally different motors and designs for that matter.

Not any less ball less than a 3.8 with 200-205 HP or even a 3.8SC with 240 HP-My Chrysler 300 with a 3.5L has 250 HP-Who is the idiot now?

250 horsepower and it is still a turd. Good job. Quit being a ignorant know it all ok? Like you said before...you own a Corvette and a Mustang...or "so you say" and you belong to THEIR forums...so of course your knowledge is top notch. Your on a site where the people here know about hmm...1,000 times more about these cars than you do...so why don't you do us all a favor and stop trying to act like your the sh!t. No one really cares...this is the internet afterall. Good job impressing high school kids.

:th_laugh-pointup: and i'm college age, just to much of a putz to go! I'm startin to think we gotta Streetwolf JR! I'm just messing blue, you make way to many valid points when you flame someone to be compared to him

Just putting this out there Chrylser 300's are junk. 3.8 k intakes crack while the intake gaskets on the 3.4 the 3.1 and even the 3.5 up to 06 (?) eat intake gaskets

Chryslers have always been junk from the late 70's to the LATE 00's IMO. Now they are good powered cars...but are overweight hogs.
