trans help!

The Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) should not apply unless the transmission has reached a minimum TRANS FLUID temperature of 8°C (46°F) and ECT temperature of 50°C (122°F). Note when the TCC applies. This should occur in Fourth gear

OK for this particular year here is what the pcm wants to see... This is STRAIGHT off of GMs service homepage, Id love to hear how THIS is not correct info.

it's possbile that its the trans, but what are the odds that your old trans and "new" trans are exhibiting basically the EXACT same symptoms?

maybe getting ahold of a stock pcm and try that one?

Ok, this is good to know. My engine will get up to operating temp. (around 187*) and it still takes about 2-3 mins to engage the TCC. So I'm thinking thats probably no good.

Here's a tought, did they ever put the 4T60 trans. in 97.5 with the L67? I heard they were avaliable in 97.5 only as that was the last year. Or was that only with a NA motor? Reason being, I'm wondering if the car originaly had a 4T60 in it? I don't know because I bought with a
4T65-HD...just thinking

I did get a few weird shifts yesterday...only happened at about 1/4 throttle. It usally will not shift that hard even though its commanded to in the pcm, but it just slamed a few times into gear (2-3) out of the blue after the flash. Then went back to it normail

No Delayed Lock Up Is not normal the trans will lock up no matter how hot it is. the only time delayed lock up happens is on the vaccu trans's like i have. monte0 you got an internel problem there man. The TCC switch is starting to go bad..

Delayed lockup is normal. At least on my car. And every other GTP I have had. And I think even on my wife's malibu.

Mine won't lockup until the trans temp his about 75°F. Doesn't matter about the engine temp. Sometimes the engine temp will reach 195°F and it still won't be in lockup.

Delayd lockup is the sign of a trans problem. A serious problem. And as for 2 trans's acting the same it could be a wiring short or wiring for the trans pak connector has a bare spot in it somewhere causing it to ground out or not get enough power. And Toasty I've driven gtps before NONE. had delayed lock up at all.... My grandmothers 01 buick century does not have delayed lock up and its the 65e... Delayed lock up is a wiring fault or a TCC switch not being commanded on when it needs to

Scotty, is it ok to say numb nuts? I'm not calling anyone that, I'm just asking, because it would be better than telling someone they have their head up their a$$.:th_angry2:

It's a lot more excessive delay then my other 2 regals had with the same trans. in them, thats what I'm going by at least.

You know, I have been trying EXTREMELY hard to not do this, but you have just finally gone too far. I'm a nice guy, and I know I may likely get in trouble for this, but i just can't resist anymore. you're just wrong on this stuff, so --

They never used the 4T60E on the 97 up cars with supercharged engines as all the L67 engines came with the 4T65E from 97 up. 96 was the only year with the series 2 L67 to get a 4T60E and that was not in W-body cars, so you are safe. The NA 3800s for 97 still got the 4T60E but not the SC engines. The electrical connector is different also so it wouldnt have swapped in place of it without seeing something really stand out that wouldnt work.

I'd check around and see if you can find a different stock PCM, and change only what you need to accomodate the 3.29's it's a long shot but perhaps something is actually wrong with the pcm that a rewrite is not fixing

That could be true to. But trace the trans pak connector wiring first to see if its frayed or not anywhere

Good to know trannyman, thanks. Knew I heard something about that but just couldn't remember.

That is possible, I'll have to grab one from my buddy and give ity a try. I did have a issue in the past with a couple bad flashes.

One other thing, I get a check engine light every time I flash the car....but theirs no code ever so I clear it...?

Are you referring to the Check Engine light coming on during the flash, but goes away once you start the car? If so, that is completely normal.

Are you still using the original/ correct pcm for the car? I know DHP allows flashing different year pcms that dont have the correct OS / year match but they will work and sometimes have side effects. Are you checking the code with your DHP or an actual scan tool? Often there are other codes that arent supported by the tuners and only a full scan tool will say what is going on.
