Vendor Pricing

Well, on the topic of fluid... is it the same? It's my understanding that Dex 6 is not synthetic. If valvoline is, then they would have to be different, right?

To my understanding, Mobil has the only fully synthetic ATF that is comparable to Dexron......as I read it, Valvoline has the Mercon type F synthetic. I have read no GM information mentioning that Dex 6 is either a blend or fully synthetic. So with that being said, a few searches didn't turn up any reliable information regarding what the specific ingredients are.
I'd imagine that's closely guarded.

DEXRON®-VI ATF

GM fluid is merely a synthetic blend. Meaning not full synthetic.

You guys are gonna complain about $100 brake lines?? Seriously?? LOL. Id look elsewhere if you wanna see price gouging and inflation.

Example. I work at CDW. We sell cables for 400% markup. A salesman makes more money selling a printer cable then selling the actual printer!! I bought a 50 foot cat5 cable for $7 when everyone else pays $45, and they will pay it and it will sell.

Saying custom car parts are recockulously priced is a big joke IMO.

I agree with Fish.

And btw everything I receive in my department that is not Dell, comes from CDW. I know we paid more but, when we have an issue a return shipping UPS label is emailed to me within minutes. Sometimes you pay more for value added service.

I dont mind paying extra if I know I am going to be taken care of. Example I buy a lot at NAPA. more money but they take good care of me. Thats when I dont mind paying more.

:th_peaceout::th_peaceout::th_biggrin2: Thanks for the paycheck.

ZZP's prices (for now) are pretty good for the #6 tranny fluid.

ZZP is basically selling it for $4.99/qt. ($19.99/gal) where as the current dealer price currently is $8.66/qt. retail. The dealerships I talked to cannot buy it in bulk currently, so once they do or can, the price could go down some for them, and even more for me when I "walk in and go shopping" like I do for my other parts and supplies.

From what I have been told, GM has been using a synthetic blend oils and lubes in many of their models since 2006. Not all the cars and trucks from 2006 on are using a synthetic blend in everything, many of them can have the old regular stuff, if you will, in there too depending on model.

Just my findings and knowledge that I know of being passed on.

Actually I work in the security control room. I get to monitor all the buildings that we currently have in our posession. Its the workers there that you have a beef with.

can you feel the Love in this thread?

Fish and I were just doing some friendly jousting. However, the topic of the thread and those complaining about vendor pricing... :th_shakinghead2:

I had an owner of a business that makes performance parts for Wbodys and a couple other markets. He said it's next to impossible to make a dollar in our market, especially compared to the other auto communities. Sad actually, because thats the reason there are so few vendors and so many that have fallen by the wayside.

Rubs crystal ball and sees more of the same in the future.

Dang imports. Demand is for Ricers which is sad. for every one of us w-body owners who mod or customize there are 10 ricers with a honda or nissan doing it. I know the demand just isnt there for many vendors to survive. It is sad.

the other issue is Americans want the best quality, but refuse to pay for it (hence so many chinese crap companies sprang up with garbage that is cheap)

Every Wbody company is a little guy. That makes no sense.

Zooomer is right about lots of companys going belly up. Its pretty sad. They all had great products as well. DHP, WPI, modbug. Hell, who knows whats happening for intense. Im sure they make a bit of money, but Scott really doesnt car it seems anymore. His new hobby is poker.

I figured Intense is able to hold on because of Scott's other business ventures.

from what I have heard/seen.....they arent making any money.. all the money coming in is from the other business.

just my $.02
