Are all 2000 GTP AC/Heat Blowers as Bad as Mine?

My AC and Heat works just fine, and the blower does blow air, but it has never been as powerful as any other vehicle I have ever owned. It also has always made a little noise (not air, but more of a slight gritty/grinding noise), nothing really loud, but certainly not just air flow.

Are all blower motors "lower flowing" like mine?

Would replacing it help, or are they just somewhat weak to begin with?

I am assuming the slight noise is the motor, so if a new motor will really blow the air, then I can solve 2 problems at once. If I won't get any better air flow, then I'll just deal with the noise as it isn't TOO bad.

Thanks!

Well, I thought there was something wrong with mine because it doesn't blow very hard.. though it does get louder..
Maybe it's normal, I dunno.

mine seems to work great on all setting except the floor.. it's still movin air but not as much as i'm use to. on my park ave with the setting on the floor it heats up hotter than hell. put it on the floor in the gp and it gets like luke warm

only complaint i have with mine is that hardly anything ever comes out of my far left vent, the one above the headlight switch. other then that vent, mine blows great

Same, and I can also hardly feel anything out of the floor heater. :(

Does the Blower Motor resistor help with the amount of air that flows? I thought that was just if your blower quit...

It's just a thought. I've replaced one in a co-workers car when he lost all but high speed on the fan. When I pulled it out all the traces were corroded and the fan on high was like a mouse coughing.
So if the fan isn't spinning the squirrel cage fast enough, it may not push out enough air.

We put in the new blower motor resistor, and it was like better than new.
It could be that the HVAC doors aren't fully closing due to a weak vacuum actuator.

If it's common that there's not much air coming out, then I'd say it's normal.

My TA has the most amount of air coming out of it that I've ever had on a vehicle. You can blowdry your hair in the car if you had to.
Might be a stronger motor. Unfortunately not the same part number
02 TA P/N BM10027
01 GP P/N BM10019

Mabee compare the mounting and cage height.
Just some thoughts.

there are no cabin filters installed on the GP's. if you go to buy one ask for one from a 99 regal. thats how it is here in NYC, maybe its different by where you guys live. the guy at the parts counter looked at me like i was crazy.

i have the same problem, its frustrating to start the car 10-15 minutes before at only -5 -10c to dont look like mister freeze in the car:th_angry2:

at my work it lists one. :th_scratchhead:

So, do we have cabin filters from the factory, then? I thought it was something that could be installed later on, but wasn't there when the car was new. If so, how do we access it? Is it from the outside on the passenger side cowl?

If not, then I am planning to take a look at the blower motor, itself. It seems like it's vibrating a lot when turned up past the 4th setting and hardly moves any air, to speak of. If it's not an OEM part, then I'll replace it with an AC Delco while it's out. Does anyone have a P/N for it on a '99 GTP with the dual digital climate control? My cost at the local dealership is $150, but I am betting it can be had for less somewhere else if I can get my hands on the right one.

No cabin filters from my gm catalog showing up, so doubtful its a factory option, but anything can be setup if you have the drive and $$$ to do it.

Part number (im assuming you meant for the blower motor) is a GM# 19131212, ACDelco #15-80664. But it shows list at $215.74, using my vin its a 1999 GTP with the electronic, dual temp control head... should be the same for you, but Id need your vin# to make certain
