Going to download scanner software for the laptop and need a OBDII to USB cable. A cable is a cable right, doesn't matter what kind? Would this work?

Um, erm, it'll work if you have the right decoder for the vehicle also...and the decoders come with the cables..

The laptop software should say what kind of cable you may need I have a laptop diag program
It has a cable and then a little box and a usb i dont know if a direct usb to obd2 will work

Found the same thing on ebay for like 20 bucks. I'm sure the software they send with it is **** but I'll be using my own software anyway.
