how do you install aftermarket exhaust tips? i'll throw in pics of my car in a sec.

got a 01 grand prix GT. i know...most of u are going to tell me to just get a whole new exhaust system...but i don't see the sense of doing it just for a deeper sound and no added hp..i'm fine with the sound of the stock exhaust... i just want a different appearance. i'm planning on going with some dual chrome tips from autozone. how do i install them? i just got from under my car and i see there is a clamp that seems to hold the tip to the muffler... there appears to be bolt holding it there. after about a hour, some wd40 type stuff from autozone and the help of my handy 15mm Wrench i've gotten the 10 year rusted bolts loose on both sides...but the tip still won't budge....someone please help. i'd like to get this done soon...also i've never posted pics of my car...so i'll go outside now and do that....hopefully when i get back and upload pics i'll have a few replys..

Grab them with a pair of channel locks and work them back and forth. Tips should be welded on just weld each side not the top and bottom, the auto zone tips will go to **** fast.
 
ahh...so i have to re-weld the tips... i wasn't aware of this...lol i'm trying to do it in my driveway with a limited ammount of tools...what do u mean exactly by each side opposed to top and bottom? do u have any chrome dual exhaust tips that u'd recomend.

Some of the auto zone ones have cheap screws to hold them on. I am not really sure of a good brand of tips.
 
Show us a pic or give us a general idea of the kind of tips you want, then we can give you some suggestions :th_winking:
 
not to hijack, but im so insanely impressed that no one has come in here and knocked on your wheel choice and the DUB badging.
 


im not going to tell you to get a whole new exhaust i have a gt to and i know ive got one of the best sounding exhuast a grand prix has
 
No need to get a whole exhaust on a GT. Wouldn't actually improve anything. Besides, the catback isn't the problem. It's the manifolds and DP. Catback flows just fine
