Power Steering WORKOUT!

Does anyone know of a problem with the steering system which only affects one way (left and not the other (right)? My problem is the steering on the '01 GTP. When turning to the left, the assist cuts out and it is very difficult to turn. THis is both when stopped and at varying speeds. Turning right is no problem. What is the deal? How do I fix it?

Check your fluid, but I doubt that is it...

You need an entire new steering rack to fix this. It will eventually get worse and the assist will all together stop one day.

I agree. Most likely you have a bad steering rack. But check the fluid first and make sure it is up to the correct level. Other than that, start thinking about replacing the steering rack.

Correct me if I am wrong but it sounds like you are thinking it may be the STEERING RACK! (ha) I thought so but I didn't know without prodding around if there were a repair or if replacement was necessary. Bummer... Thanks all! Anyone want a 2001 Pontiac Exercise Machine?

There isn't really any repair for the rack. You just need a new one and replace the entire unit.

If you were closer, I would take you up on your offer.
