DIC question

Greetings all,

The DIC in my 2002 GTP started doing something strange two days ago. The display will intermittently get bright and then return to normal. No other lights or the HUD are affected. When it goes bright. the lamps in the three buttons on the left as well as the traction lamp will go out.

Was wondering if this could be the back-light bulbs or the display itself.

Also, is it hard to get at. I've been searching the forum but only found one post as to how to get in there.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, the bulbs can go bad. But I read a thread over at CGP about the solder joints going bad in these. Could be your issue. If I were you, I would take the DIC apart, check all the solder joint, re-solder any that need it, and replace any bulbs that are bad. Should fix your issues.

For Zef_66,
I was at CGP as well but my searches didn't find the sodler joint post. Could you direct me?
Thanks again. Airhead

This is how to change the bulbs:

I don't have a link to the post about bad solder joints. But the above shows you how to get the DIC apart. Just look and double check all the solder joints. And use a magnifying glass and really good light. Cracked joints can be really hard to see sometimes.
