SE Heat Extractors....good news

For everybody who has been looking to get their hands on a set of Special Edition Heat Extractors, but doesn't want to pay the rediculous prices that most sites charge for them (you could buy a whole hood for that money).......I may have some very good news for you.

I found a company that makes an aftermarket version. I just bought them this morning, so I will post an update on quality, price, and where to buy as soon as UPS delivers them. Only down side I can tell from what I saw in the pictures is that there is no drip tray.

I have the S.E. heat extractors (i know you're all jealous), anyway will it hurt to take the drip trays out or should i leave them in. Just Curious.
Question is not related to iron indian's last post! LOL I have always wondered this
 
If you absolutely feel you must have one, I got a brand new drip tray from the dealer for $60. Pretty pricey for a piece of plastic, but I wanted the hood to be complete.

Good thing to know. I'm thinking that I might just use the drip tray when I'm washing the car, or the weather forecast is calling for rain/snow.

Looking to get maximum cooling for the LS4 during the summer months.

I've known of people who have ran without drip trays for many years without any side effect. Your engine (especially if your engine is detailed with polished stuff) will get dirty faster and easier with rain, snow, or even washing the car but thats a given. Hell my aftermarket hood is opened up in two sections at least 2" tall and I DD drive my car with no issues.

You'll be fine without the drip trays, and they will disapate heat real well too.

BTW, I was kidding with that comment above! LOL
 


I got an email from the company I bought them from saying that they should be shipping on Tuesday. If they arrive before I leave for vacation on Thursday, I will post more details then.....otherwise, details will have to wait until after the 15th.

Patience my friend....once I get my set, all will be revealed...even if it's to tell everybody to stay away if the quality isn't up to par.

I just bought a pair of 40th ann. heat extractor's from a company called Morad parts company who deal with all kinds of Gm 3800 and fwd cars. for 150.

That's a great price, but Ed doesn't always have them. And when he does get a set, they get sold fast.

The ones I bought were only $70.00 for the set(shipping included)......they arrived on Thursday, but after I left for vacation. I will be getting home on Tuesday, and checking them out as soon as I get settled in.

As soon as I confirm the quality of them, I will let everybody know where I got them......so that people know who to contact (or avoid if they're crappy).
