HO Alternator options?

I need to get a HO alt for my GP [2005 N/A], but so far ive found nothing for our cars past ~140A, which is no where near enough.

I need a minimum of 180A for the Amps alone, not to mention the power for the car itself, so im thinking around the ranges of 240A or so.

Anyone have any ideas?

how many batteries do you have and have you done the big 3 yet. that will help out too. email the guys at dc power inc. they don't list the grand prix on their website but you should be able to email them and they should be able to get you something. i've seen them build alts with 270 amps max output. i plan on using them when i get my alt. by the way what set up do you have in there. DC Power Engineering - Welcome that's their website. hope this helps out

i sent DC power, mean green, iraggi, Excessive amperage, and one or two more an email.

Im currently Running a single 12" FI BTL and an Orion HCCA 2400w [actually 1200WX1 @ 1OHM] it bumps, hard. now i just need a aftermarket HU, a proper alternator, and a new amp, looking @ teh power acoustic BAMF 4000/1 which does 2200Wx1 @ 1 ohm, should get the BTL slamming. as it is its pretty quite on anything but deep drops. its just not getting fed enough power

yea with clean power i've the BTL take close to 3k rms daily. oh how is the rest of your electrical looking. have you done the big 3 yet and are you running the stock battery.

yes the bat is stock, and the big 3 is currently not done, but in my last SPL car i did the big 3 with 0/2 gauge and 3 batteries [kinetik 2400 IIRC] in the back and a redtop up front and the batteries gave me a good amount of car off running and smoothed out the voltage drop, but the big 3 didnt help me all that much, until i put in a 200A alt, then it was beautiful.

so im not to anxieious to do the big 3 and start stacking batts [well i dont want to stack batts at all] until i get enough current output to feed everything.

yea i know what you mean. i don't really want to stack batts either (in this car anyway). a lot of people are using 1/0 for the big three. they say it helps with the voltage drop a little bit. even better when they add the alternator. me personally i would do the big 3 plus the alternator, deep cycle up front and an extra in back just to help out. you may need a 3rd battery. just have to check you voltage drop on that.

i sell you an alt booster for 150 bucks :)

or i could get a 180A alt for the same price....

i think i would go with the option that would actually do something for my lack of amps/voltage

although im going to need alot more then 180A, im looking at about 220A @ 14.4 for the new amp alone.
