• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

What's next?

I'm coming to the end of modding the car for performance I think for a while. Really all I have left to do is a pulley, smallest that I can run of course. I've got the supporting mods for a 3.4 maybe, depending on how much KR I'd get. Now I'm on the stock pulley/tune and have 0* KR. I'd be getting a pulley for sure in the future, after the Bahammas that is . My main question really is is would an AFC or happy knob be worth it say on a 3.4 pulley? I kinda know what they do but would a good tune be better, and what exactly do they do? I can't tune but there is a shop here in town that has a pretty good rep with dyno tunes, either way its more $$$. Right now I have a K&N open cone(might put the FWI back together), 180* t-stat, AL 104s, front PLOG, 3" catless DP, u-bend delete, reading off of a Racetech Designs scan gauge reading 0* KR.

Well I know I have a basic 3.4 setup with the pulley and my next 3 mods are gonna be:really good tune,1.9 rockers and the a s/c p&p. Then if I wanna go any further it would be an intercooler. Just too expensive for me right now. U should be okay for a 3.4 pulley

Get a ported TB/SC combo...and drop to a 3.4" and get her re-tuned. IMO that should net you some awesome butt dyno gains ;)

Will an AFC and happy know be worth a good boost in power over a stock tune and 3.4 once I get one? I know a tune is the best thing, It'll be a while before I could get a tun and was thinking of doing it myself, just got lots to learn.

an AFC is only good for dialing in your fuel trims on the fly, so it doesnt necessarily add power in any way. a happy knob wont do much either besides give you a way to adjust your timing tables on the fly. you need someone with a tuner to be able to use the happy knob also. neither of these things will really add power, but just help you get your current setup running well.

I still say ported blower/tb.

sort of a waste of money for anyone in the 3.4-3.2 range. the blower is good down to about a 3.0 or so and the throttle body never really gives a big gain.

if you wanted one big gain then get an intercooler and drop to around a 3.2 pulley right away.

For the money though...its not a bad upgrade...lower temps, better throttle response, and even a few more horses...maybe nothing to brag about but it does make a decent amount of difference.

yea why not get the blower done, i do all the porting btw, good prices too and top notch quality, the best on here.

I disagree...besides the IC thats probably one of the best mods i did was a ported blower and TB...made a huge difference on my 3.4 setup...

Im just going off of pictures, but as far as on this forum, yes.

way to totally knock anyone else who does it on here...Brian (reptile) does a hell of a job and has a better rep as of now... Even if yours is the best you dont have to be a douche about it...

Yeah, Brian was the number one blower person on my list, then Farns...and now...heh...me. Then possibly ZZP and someone else...

Pics?

Yes.

Let's see your blower look like this...

Or this...

^^ Sorry that it is blurry but my camera sucked when I took this one, but you get the idea. There is none of that epoxy crap in that case either, nor does he do it for the sake of the customer's motor. Also...do you do everything else on the 3800? Like rockers/cam/motor swaps/tuning? Didn't think so...He is in a total different class than you are...oh...and he doesn't hotlink pics either.

And Farns...well...there are enough pics on the internet and people who have his stuff to cover for his work ;)

First off, i dont polish blowers, its a waste of tme IMO. Next, i was never bashing anybody's work. Im sure he does fine work. I was just stating that I do some good work also. My main concern was the blower outlet area, doesnt look very straight to me, might be the picture? Anyways i know the both of you are going to be partial to the people you are friends with, and that is fine. Either way, my comment was not being a "douche" as you guys would call it. Either way, I do what i can to help this community with good quality work at killer prices, that was my main point. I didnt mean to offend anyone and if i did, im sincerely sorry.

Either way i would like to see proof that the silencer slits being shut is a bad idea. Im curious bluegtp91, in the above picture, why didnt you cut the two bolts down in the outlet path?

Wow. This right here is the reason some people don't like forums. Nothin like a bunch of grown ass men who've never seen each other in person arguin over the fu**ing internet. Anyway I plan on gettin a p and p on my car soon and minichopper has been real cool about providin info on his AND other peoples work

And now back to our regularly schedule program...;)

That's not totally true. Adding timing WILL add power IF you can run it KR free. I have a happy knob on my car and have set up my timing tables so that I have a "Street Safe" setting which is what I run 99% of the time, a "Street Agressive" setting which will keep me KR free but just barely and I might see a blip of .5 if it's warm outside, and a "Race Gas" setting for when I'm running 109 octane.

You just need to make sure you can scan for KR no matter what. That should be top on your list if you're going to start messing around with a happy knob or AFC.
