So i have a buddy who just recently bought a 2002 audi s4. He has a couple things done to it like an intake and a tune and downpipes i think. Anyways we go cruising every sunday night and i decided one night to give him a run from 60. Right now i have a CAI, zzp 1.0pcm, zzp hv1 tb, ported manifold and downpipe. From a roll he pulled about a car lenght on me pretty quick but didnt go much further than that. Anybody have any suggestions as to what would help me take him down a notch? Im getting ready to put on a LS1 throttle body, 3.5 pulley and im having it tuned on the dyno by a local shop. Will those be enough?

That thing is still a V8...gonna be hard to beat him down low because of the Quattro AWD and the high revving motor...

My tips? Get rid of that crap PCM and get a good tune...a LS1 TB is overkill, you don't need one until a big cam IMO. Have that shop tune it good after you get an intercooler. Even a cheap Short Stack will let you be able to drop to a 3.2" knock free...and you should nost him then ;)

Intercooler or nitrous if you want to beat him.

IC...Spray is for babies :p

the 2002 s4 isnt a v8 its a 2.7 turbo, they didnt have v8's until the 2003's.... you'll should beat him...its makes about 250hp and 258tq at the crank so i think you'll take him...run him from a roll, if you have the 3.5 on tuned and knock free you should eat him alive....

Yeah he has the 2.7 litre twin turbo but there is another guy i know who has the v8 s4. That dam v8 sounds mean with the exhaust he has on it! And i was going to get an intercooler or meth injection down the road but im not sure which one i should get? Any suggestions on intercooler or meth injection?

Meth is A LOT cheaper but the intercooler is more consistent if your not good with a tuner...If you don't have much to spend and you know a good tuning source, spring for 100% Meth...:th_biggrin2:

Right...but the V8 was also a option. Trust me as my next car is going to be a '08 RS4. IIRC they are still pretty quick regardless, especially with mods...letting a turbo breathe and having it tuned makes mucho power. And not sure about eating him alive but he would win. They ain't slouches :th_thumbsup-wink:

V8 was only an option on the A6 powered cars. u couldnt get a V8 in a A4/S4 in 2oo2.
Try him from a dead Stop, i bet that car leangth jumps to 3 or so.

Yeah i havent gotten to race him from a dig yet but i really want to since my car is all torque lol. Hey i noticed your in colorado to, what part?

top end or bottom end you don't have a chance against an S4. especially if he has a decent tune. save your gas on the thrill and ride with him

He has AWD. Don't try it.

hence why i told you to run him from roll....a 30 roll preferably....i dont know why people are saying you dont stand a chance..stock prob not but 3.5'd and as long as he only has minor things done i think it should be a good race ...once you hit 100 your gtp will run out of breathe tho and that turbo is gonna start reeling you in like a champ :)

Have any of you raced the awd DSMs??? I leave them in the dust. JUst because they have awd doesn't mean they will win.

Yeah i will have to give him a run oune i get my smaller pulley. I might even save my pennies and get a meth injection kit and drop to a 3.25 inch pulley. Or just get a turbo kit and not even give him a chance hahaha

V8 wasn't available until '03. A stock '02 S4 runs 14-ish 1/4 times. So I'm not sure where the issue with running this guy is...as you sit, it could very well be a driver's race. I ran one (actually the very day my motor popped) in my '02 GTP - 1.9 RR's, FWI, DP, DHP PCM, 3.4 - and I walked it - hard - from about 55 up through 100+, and he started out about 3/4 car in front of me. I had at least 8 cars on him (and yes - he was trying). There is a world of difference between a 2002 S4 and a 2003 S4 - believe that.

True but alot of DSM owners dont know how to mod there cars.
But a S4 that is proberly lightly modded will give you a hell of a run. Stock they aren't really that fast. But A chip, up/Down pipe exhaust. and they should be close to 350-380hp. After that u gotta change turbos. The turbos in the s4 are for quick spool. They dont have that much max boost.

Oh, I wasn't saying they don't have potential. I used to have a 92 awd 5 spd Talon. Just saying awd isn't going to trump anything...

But mad props to beating one. They arent easy. THe problem is i have noticed alot of audi guys or younger kids with evo's/WRX/STI dont know how launch AWD cars properly. They Either dont launch hard enough, or if they do. THen they surpissed how fast the 1-2 shift comes and the miss it.
