what kind of gains would i see from the title? i'd rather go rockered so i dont have to pay 500$ for a cam install...the rockers i can do myself....ive heard gains around 20-25 WHP is this true?
 


those rockers and those springs are going to cost as much as doing a cam. otherwise yes, youll probably gain a good 20 whp out of them.

you sure you want to trust comp 105s?
 
what if i just got 1.8 roller rockers and kept the stock springs....or 1.9 modified....what kind of gains do the modified rockers offer?
 
Stay away from Comp Cams 105's...they have been snapping.

If you are going to run high ratio ROLLER rockers instead of the modded rocker arms...then I'd spring for some LS6 Springs and retainers...you can get a set of LS6's off of EBay for about $50-$70 ish...they equate to 90# springs. You should be able to get the retainers from a local dealership for about $20-$30...I run LS6's with my XP Cam setup...also before the XP swap I ran 1.84:1 Yella Terra Roller Rockers with stock springs shifting at 6200. Not as nice as the cam, but cruising on the HWY, I got about 3-5mpg's MORE with the rockers ;)
 
so basically a good bang for your mod is 1.84 roller rockers because i can put them in myself and run stock springs? or should i save for the XP it would be about 775$ installed lol thats a lot...
 


you think i could get away with a 3.0 on an XP with 42lb inj? non ICed:th_king-evil:...or would i prob be around a 3.2? what pulley could i drop to with 1.84 rr?

mods would be the rockers plus my sig and a tune from FASTKATT..same if i had the cam...

or should i say **** a cam and just get ICed ? decisions decisions...
 
I can promise you guy's that if comp had an issue with there springs and we know about it. So do they. And if they know about it then it has been taken care of. You guy's don't realize the kind of quality control that these springs go through before they are released.

I mean there is this big old thing about the new 125's or what ever in the hell they are. Those springs go through the same process when being made. I have used many set's of 105's. Comp 105's. And never had an issue. I agree with everyone else that it is 100% user install error. And when it comes down to a tech standpoint these springs are not designed for our application. They are designed for a ls1 application.


I have never heard of anyone on here or any of the other forums actually having an issue with there springs breaking. Except club GP. And there it was a very limited number of people. Everyone just seems to like to talk about it.
 
not trying to thread jack but since the topic is rockers n such can someone tell me what kind of rockers these are...

I has been posted about constantly from dozens of people on other boards. This was a huge issue with the Comp 130s with the LSx guys, and Comp acknowledged the problem and replaced a TON of springs. They obviously didn't take care of the problem, though, as springs continued to break outside of the batches they were replacing. It's not just some rumor as you insinuate, it's a very real problem. When they switched suppliers from PAC to some factory in Mexico, everything went to hell.
 


^^Yup...I heard that whole story minus the factory swap part. Got a buddy that is on LS1tech and all he tells me is how people with their high lift cams keep snapping comp springs over, and over, and over...hence why if you get springs...get GM Issue LS6 (90#) Springs, or the Crow 105#'s. I've heard nothing but good things from Crow.

And for the pic...those look like Harland Sharp Rockers.

Would you trust any of the springs? OR are there just some of the springs that are made in that factory?
 
At this point, I wouldn't trust any Comp springs made in the last three years or so. I can't tell you what's made where for sure, but I do know that Comp switched totally away from PAC somewhere in that time frame, so even if they're not Mexican made, Comp springs in the last three years aren't the same as Comp springs made before that. ZZP's description of the Crow springs suggests that they're PAC springs, so I would probably go that way, or with a different manufacturer like Si. There's always the L76 spring option for high ratio rockers, too.
