HID with stock housing????

Okay, I just picked up a '99 GTP for a daily driver. :D:D The stock headlights are not that good so I was looking for a solution for better night lighting.

Does adding an HID kit to the factory housing noticeably improve effective lighting? Does it make night driving much safer?

I have searched on this subject already, but what is one of the better recommended kits for the 97-03 cars?

Should a person just get low beam HID's or both low and high beam?

Is there a specific harness that everyone upgrades to for the new lights?

thanks....:th_thumbsup-wink:

yes. yes.

all of them are pretty much the same, its the harness that you need to make sure is good.

the low beams are good all around, the high beams kind of suck. i have a bi-xenon kit for sale if youre interested (highs/lows).

......the low beams are good all around, the high beams kind of suck....

So, should a person just go with low beam HID's and not worry about the high beams?

Should you get HID low beams with regular hi beams as well?

thanks....

the bulbs themselves are placed too far forward into the capsule. if you were handy and were able to make a small spacer for the bulb so that they would sit in the right place then yes, high beams would be very beneficial. due to their design, the low beam is about half way to the high beam status so when you turn on the high beams the filament is too far forward so it just shoots light out everywhere instead of being useful.

HID's in stock housing is decent, much brighter but the pattern sucks. Not much you can do about it. Its a nice upgrade and I'd never go back to regular bulbs. If you want hi and low beams I'd say to get a set of projector head lamps with the HID's and then you'll be amazed by the difference.
