• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

So, when I drive my car past 70 or 80 on the highway, then slow down to get off on an exit the check engine light comes on and stays on until I turn the car off. It only does that if I slow down or break from speeds faster than lets say, 60. Any ideas?

Also, a couple months ago I hooked some subs up to my car and I used the wire that was in there. Well some of the coating rubbed off and it was grounding itself out somewhere, which caused all my electricity to go nuts. When I'd turn on my blinker or roll a window down my spedometer, and all the other meters would kind of stutter and move up. With my blinker they just move with the blinker light. Well they stopped when I replaced the subwire. But they started again, and I'm just wondering if it could possibly have something to do with the same problem. I just had to replace my blinker relay because my blinkers stopped working completely. I tried new fuses but that didn't fix it. So when I put the new relay in my blinkers slowed down and now they cause my car to rev every time i turn one on. And when I roll a window down or turn my lights on my car revs. Any ideassss? =)

IDK...Buddy used to drive a '94 T-Bird that would do that...click his windows and shiz and his voltmeter would go crazy...after we put some speakers in...I say a bad ground somewhere or a fuse/wire of somesort ;)

To isolate any "extra wiring" ... unhook to see if the issue persists. If it doesn't, you found the issue.

However, I am unsure about a 94... but swing by a Autoparts store that has a OBD I code scanner. Most places like Advance Auto, Autozone... should scan your car for free.

Good luck!

94 and up should be OBD 2 compliant, the last year for OBD 1 was in 1993 and then you could use a paper clip and count the flashes. Can't do that on 94+

Either way Autozone, Orielly, or any other car parts store should be able to read the code for free and you can start from there. When you get the code, post it up, hopefully we can help ya further.....

I'm pretty sure that 96+ was OBDII, and anything before tha twas OBDI.

Actually the government mandated OBD II in 1998. I am just finishing my computer engine controls class and we talked about that last week. I'm not trying to bash anyone. Some cars had OBD II before ie 97 grand prix. Just depends on the car. A lot of the early ones did not have many feature built into the system.

Ok, more specifically my post applies to GM vehicles.
