A Pita? For the time and money you would be better off with an aftermarket radio. Getting the harnesses and rerunning the wires would be a pita.
Putting things in are actually most of the time worse tan taking it out, so if it sucks going out, it is defenitely going to suck going in.
Nothing is as good as Bose in my opinion. My speakers hit just as hard as some people's aftermarket subs. Not to mention it sounds a hell of alot better.
and the lifestyle system sounds like crap to start off with, no bass. The car systems tend to lack alot in sound also (most of the basic systems sound better to most people when they do a back to back comparo) people buy bose because they see a name and think it means better, even when it doesn'tMy biggest thing with bose is the cost. They charge way way way too much money for there speakers.
Example LifeStyle system Goes for 2k-3k. The speakers that bose uses you can buy for under a $20 bill.
For the same 2-3k you can build a system that will destroy the bose system, Rock the house and rival some real theater sound systems as far as clarity, and still have some money left over.
It took bose since the 80's to get there name a name brand and it worked everyone knows it and bose will charge for it.
Again if your not in to going aftermarket then yes bose is great you already got an upgrade from factory.
