Pacesetter 3800 Headers

Pontiac Performance Racing Products for International Sales from SSAutochrome Inc.

Here are the 2 links also I was wondering can you put a cat on headers. Does it need to be welded in or will it bolt in after the DP

Looking to buy very soon Already thought about PLog Cross over and DP. But I think Headers would be better if I can put cat in cause I Live in CT and I have inspection every year

Do the SSAC Headers need to be welded in or are they bolt in I can not see on the website

i would go pacesetters and yes you can buy downpipes with the cat built in or you can buy a straight pipe the only thing about the pacesetters is if you dont get the kit from zzp to fix the y pipe you should try to get it welded so you dont experience any leaks

i would vote the SSAC.. They are knockoffs of the SLP's, and are a much better design of sealing than the Pacesetters

do you have the CAT welded in after you get them or can you buy them with cats so far I have the vote 1 to 1 anyother opinions

i have no experience with either, but them being nearly the exact same thing besides the fact that SSAC are stainless and cheaper i would go with them.

Um, no, SSACs are copies of SLP headers, not Pacesetters. The design is pretty different.

i wouldnt waste money on cheap headers IMO, your better off saving and getting some s&s or zzp headers.

S&S are not suited for a SC app, they are better for the NA because of the 2.5 Collector. And the ZZP ones are WAY too much money and have a sensless 02 location that only monitors the front bank of cylinders

if your gonna drop coin then you are better off spending it on Real SLP's. I have the Real SLP's with a ZZP Triple Wall Flex and they are awesome

wait, wait, wait....what?

i run S&S and they have no problem flowing what i want. RON took these headers to low 12s, so why cant they run 11s. front header o2 only? youre a wuss....?

headers:

pacesetters < SSAC < SLP < TOGs < S&S < ZZP

...if i were to buy headers...i would buy my S&S again. slip fits are for losers. end of story.

"oh no, smaller primaries...i cant do that because i run a "big" setup.."

youre a woman. "big" headers are for people running "big" cams and "big" heads.

well I only hae the money for the Pasesetters or the SSAC headers I was going to go with Plog DP and Crossover but then people were saying I should just get the Headers. I hear that the SSAC ones are pretty good but I need to know if you can run these with a cat and does it bolt on or do you have to have it welded

yea... i was just gonna say that you and alot of others are running them no problem! s&s are amazing headers, they arent "better suited" for N/A engines. but i will say i for one am gonna buy some zzp headers :th_thumbsup-wink:

those are the ones that are complete junk and done fit without a lot of work...but feel free to waste your money.

the cheapest set you can buy is from SSAC.

Really? I thought the issue was they had a mistake at the factory and a batch had come out wrong but was fixed now? Guess I must not have read something correct.

SSAC's are what dagger linked from ebay. They're selling for the same price as going directly to ssautochrome.com now, so might as well buy direct.

I've installed/uninstalled every style of header over the years for people, and there's a reason that the past 6+ I've done were all SSAC's. When installing, I swap in a ZZP flex, and use Torca AccuSeal clamps with copper RTV, and folks go on their way happy. There is ZERO welding involved if you want to install them as they arrive, though.

For a cat, it would need to be welded in. I did one last month on an '02 Monte SS and here's the line-up before assembly:

The d/p needs to be cut so that the cat begins at the end of the last bend (leave 1-2" of straight on the d/p, since the cat can slide over it). Cut half of the expanded portion off the flange pipe off, right behind the end of the slits, to butt & weld the rear of the cat to that. Some care needs to be taken to keep things aligned, and you may not want to have the cat sit flat, since our tunnels aren't always wide enough to fit them straight.

I've got gobs of SSAC pics in various locations, if someone needs an example.

ZZP's blow SLP's out of the water. Hope you like the header tick from SLP's too...everyone has it, even the GTO guys...I got my Pacesetter's...I'd buy 'em again for the money...2000* coated too...tired of having a little leak here or there, which I was well aware of buying them...SO...I welded the mofo's up and you know what...2 piece design JUST like ZZP's, for half the price:cool: And they are just as good if not better then SLP's.

And Bio's right, drunk or not...S&S's are great headers...hush your mouth :th_tongue2:
