VHT nite shades wrecked my life

LOL welllllll, so i bought a can of nite shades from summit and was not very pleased with it. For some reason the valve in the spray can or the nozzle was poorly made and i had paint pooling in the top of the can which i was unaware of while i was doing my taillights, unfortunately a huge amount of this pooled paint dripped on the taillight. After fixing this, i began spraying again and found out that the paint wasn't coming out of the can and i only had aerosol which was causing the taillight to have a dulling effect. Finally after shaking the can for 20 min. and holding the can at the perfect angle, it started laying on the taillight properly. I did a couple more coats to cover the dulled vht i previously sprayed. The next taillight I had to match up with the color of the first. Finally when i was done, i realized that my taillights are EXTREMELY dark and the finish has way too much orange peel in it for me. After being depressed that i just did this to my car, i have decided ill send them to flipscustomtails when i have the cash. Anyone know how much ill be lookin at to get the vht sanded off and get them painted by this place?

FLIP is a good guy, he is on GPONA alot.

He is the only one touching the lights on my car. his work speaks for itself, and you get what you pay for, VHT is good for one thing, and thats helping your tires hook. other then that its all junk. personal experience speaks for me only. Id live with it now if you can and when you can send him a set of cores non tinted and he will send you a set of lights.

FLIP is FLIP on GPONA.com

he has his own site too , but I just talk to him there.

My yep yep yep thread is freeing up money for me so I can get him to do ALL my lights front and back as well as getting in touch with Don Rome for my STB brackets.

Also...you can get ahold of Abrasive on here and ask him about the guy that does tails for him...AWESOME!! :D

Could you not just use paint thinner to remove it? Or you could use oven cleaner....LOL I was cleaning my air vents in my house and used that...it took the paint RIGHT off! Right down to the metal...LOL they was clean...

Just sand them back down, clear them and send them to flip, it will be cheaper that way. Hes gonna charge you more to sand off the VHT because it clogs the sand paper up, soo you will be paying for the time to sand them back down, payin the for sand paper he used(its not cheap) and then the time and money to redo them. So yer best bet is to just sand them down yourself, and throw a coat of clear on them if you need to drive with them before you send them to FLIP.

ill post a picture and let you guys make the call with how they look. hmmm now how do i post a picture. ill mess around with a few things and try it

metal vs plastic though, oven cleaners generate heat which will warp the plastic , paint thinner will work but I do beleive it fogs the plastic too.

mine turned out dark too, so i added a fourth brake light under the trunk lid so theres no probs with there not being enough lights, lol

i guess they are okay but more importantly its how long they will last. I'll eventually get them done somewhere once these get to lookin rough.
