stock 04 gtp vs. 05 f-350 turbo diesel

My cousin has an 05 F-350 turbo diesel lifted with 35" AT's and a chip. He swore he would beat my gtp. I didn't think he stood a chance but I finally gave in and raced him. Needless to say I won by a few car lengths. Now he claims he would have beat me with stock tires on. Anybody agree with him? We really can't test that theory since he no longer has the stock tires.

I have seen some very fast turbo diesels but his was not one of them. Though from a 20mph rolling start I think it's a toss up.

You gotta figure though they move as quickly as they do for 7000+ pounds...try and out a L67 in a 7,000+ lb. vehicle and you'll hardly move LOL

I've seen a F350 4X4 Turbo desiel with big off road tires run 13.7-8s at 2700' alt in 90 degree weather...that's damn fast for a big truck. A stock 97-03 GTP at under those same conditions is a 15.3-5 second car just for comparison.

I've seen them too. But the only performance mod he has on his truck is a computer chip. Every other mod he's done is visual and just adds weight. Those trucks your reffering to are heavily moddified. If his was like that I would not have even bothered to race him. What are the times on an 04 gtp stock at those conditions? I think 04 and up came stock with a little more power.

if he has 4x4 then if he has smaller tires he'll launch in 4x4 and be gone. They are very quick for the size and will surprise you with what they can do.

04+ are also a little heavier than the 97-03s so the times are about the same. If you have the 3.29s like (I believe) the CompGs came with then you're talking 1-2 tenths quicker because of the gear ratio.

I don't know how much work this F350 had done to it but he was putting out a ton of black smoke. It was nuts. Good kill for you none the less.

I don't think he was running it in 4x4 (at least he said he wasn't) but I don't know. I know he would launch better but I would think it would slow him overall. I did see an F-350 lifted blow the doors off an RX-7, and it was pretty cool.

Well the stock tires and wheels were probably a lot lighter and that's less rotational mass, but as much as a diesel can weigh I doubt it'd make a difference since you beat him by a couple cars anyways...bench racing...lol

The 35" tire and wheels killed him. He may not win even with stock sized tires/ wheels but it would be a closer race. How did u race/ roll. dead stop. Was he boosting up at all when he launched?. The lift and bigger tires really did hurt him. You forget that bigger tires effect your overall gear ratio in a bad way.

yes it would make a huge difference. I say next time you guys race have him throw it in 4x4 and brake boost and see how bad he'll launch out of the hole.

I saw a stock honda barley loose to one (I was in the honda). Enough said.

Last night a diesel was pacing my friend in his pos neon. The diesel gunned it and the neon beat him easily...little did the diesel owner know that the pos neon had a srt-4 motor swapped into it!

LOL...I love cars like that...even the paint is pealing!!! That's fantastic! Tell you're buddy good work! :) If I raced that car and didn't know what he had under the hood I'd think something was wrong with my car. LOL

Ya the diesel owner was laughin pretty good. I'm sure he had no idea. Not even sure why he was messing with us. Something about diesel owners around here, they are always messing around.

He raced this full exhaust vette with a 100 shot. I got to ride in it all night. I kinda want a vette now. He raced the vette N/A and he could find traction...vette won by a couple cars. On the drive home we ran into a early year Trans Am WS6...nothing special. Looked stocked to me. A '98 or '99. He couldn't find traction from the light but caught up easily...win for neon!
