Another Pulley ? Thread

I'm going to be running a Gev V swap on my 98 gtp, and it's coming with a 3.25 pulley on a zzp MPS, I know I'll need to get something larger, but not sure how much (considering the V vs III, and the mod list)

-Stock Gen V Blower
-Northstar TB
-LQ4 MAF
-Ported LIM (upper only, running stock heads)
-Ported front exhaust manifold
-2.5" uncatted downpipe
-CAI of sorts (haven't decided on a specific one as of yet, but will be present when I do the blower swap)
-NGK TR6x Plugs on AC Delco wires
-Pre-Tuned PCM

Any input as to what I could run safely and reliably for a daily driver would be appreciated. Also, what are thoughts on running a gutted 99- airbox instead of a CAI, as a cost-saving measure?

Probably get away with a 3.5 pulley. You should get a bigger downpipe or go with headers though.

For the intake, either get a CAI or just stick a filter right off of the LQ4 maf. Its restriction vs. air temps. and when you have a supercharger the temp. is going to rise either way, so don't lose sleep over going one way or the other. Gutting the stock airbox probably wouldn't be the ideal solution.

X2 ^^ I'd prolly run a 3.8" or 3.6" to be on the safe side...you'll be pushing a lot of air with a tiny DP and no cat...I'd get some headers and you might be safe on a 3.4"...with a tune of course...

i would not run the Gutted airbox a CAI or FWI for sure

and your gonna need a 3.5 or larger pulley for the Gen V

A new exhaust is in the future, I just dont have the funds for both a new blower and a new exhaust setup.

@FoSho99, I may just run the open cone for now and try to learn more about making my own CAI instead of dropping 200+ on a prefab, thanks for the advice

So a 3.6 it is for now, once I have a better exhuast and find someone who will dyno-tune it should be safe to drop down to a 3.5-3.4?

Once you get the funds to open up the exhaust yes...honestly I would get the exhaust mods done...and take the pulley (3.4") to the dyno with you...dyno it with the 3.6 & the 3.4 and see if you have any KR with the 3.4...and if you don't then I'd tune it for the 3.4" ;)
