ive had this 93 grand prix sitting in my garage for awhile now so i decided im going to make it into a pro street car. ive got a small block chevy and turbo 400 tranny that i want to put in the car and i want to run 29X18.5 tires but with this being a unibody front wheel drive car i want to see how or if any others went about with the chassis to throw a rear end on. i don't know if itd be possible to just weld up a cross member to bolt the ladder bar setup to or if im just going to have to get some square tubing and build my own chassis? just any insight or help would be appreciated.

how much power are looking to push out of that sbc? and its gonna take some hella fab work to shoehorn that set up in there. i would full frame it from your ladder bar setup to the front end and essentially make it a GM chassis with a grand prix body. that should handle as much power as you wanna throw at it

ive seen an 89 grand am pro street with chutes and the works so its definetly possible. just hope your good with a welder ;)

thanks for the replies!!! so heres the plan: ive been doing some research and i find the best route for me to go is the 2x3 frame rails chassis kit for jegs: 2x3 frame rails, narrowed rails in the rear, comes with full rollcage for a lil over 600 bucks which seam to be the ticket! im just going to use as much of the stock front suspension as possible

it will be tough to use the stock suspension with a small block and trans in the place of v6. it can be done no doubt just weigh your options. stock front suspension will need heavy springs, shocks, and who knows what else. whereas if you put front framerails in similar to a metric gm chassis there are parts all over the place to make it handle a small block. and metric chassis parts are cheap too. just do a lot of research and do your homework and youll be draggin the bumper before you know it. just make sure you put some videos on here ;)

Interested in progress and pics of this project. I soo wanna buy back my first car, A 1993 GP SE and do exacly this to it! Seriously, its been on my mind for sometime. I just don't know how to weld or have any hook ups.

those jegs kit are roughs, or were. Me and a buddy used tht exact kit for an 85 camaro with a big block in it.

Unibodies are strong, stock. They do need alot of reinforcement to not twist.

Also your stock front suspension will not work, at all. Hope you can weld, damn good.

Ya i hadn't really looked at the front suspension too much but after looking at it im definately gunna scrap the idea of using it. ill figure out more in depth exactly what im gunna do once i get into it.
