OK, so here is the scoop. I just put in my 2 weeks notice at my current job. My new career is giving me the opportunity to purchase a NEW car. My current 2000 GTP is mechanicly sound, but it is not aesthetically pleasing to look at. I will sometimes be entertaining potential clients, and will drive it a MAx up to 500 miles one way..so it needs to be reliable.

I am leaning toward the G8.... but need others input....

I will do a Lease to own.....if I buy NEW.

This car will be STRICTLY used for buisness only...and well go to the store and that sorta thing. STOCK all the way down to the K&N drop in filter that I will add;)

the Dealership where I bought my 2001 GTP currently has 2 midnight blue, 2 dark grey, 2 black, and I think 1 red.

I have only seen a dark grey, and a red one driving around town.

I LOVE that blue. I wouldnt mind having the 6spd GXP, but I would settle for a GT...

If I buy new, I want to buy something I like..and want to keep...rather than knowing I settled for this car and end up trading it back in on the car I originally wanted.. might as well have all the bells and whistles...

the price I was shooting for was around 28-35K

G) None of the above...get your car painted, or "aesthetically pleased" for a few bucks and call it good. You know the car, like the car, and have the history of it to know it is reliable.

Why stick with the gm family?
How much are they willing to pay?

Id say
1. G37 or G354 4dr
2. A new maxima
3. Lincoln MKX or MKZ
Lexus es300

i voted G8 GT!! i would stay far away from the gp gxp's, my cousin just bought one only a month & a half ago w/35,??? miles on it & the tranny blew the other day. its funny his next car is between a g8 gt or a gto!! good luck with the car hunt!!

to be honest, I never really liked those cars. I never really got into them. I know Pontiacs which is why I wanted to stick with them.:th_winking:

I had honestly thought about it....but I would like something new for once....:th_scratchhead:

I know she will do great in winter... but I see myself putting another 10k into this car just from previous owners lack of upkeep.

that is a 1/3 of a new car......

What about the trans am? What dressings is she wearing on the outside and whats under the hood?

People say G8 GT, why :s did I miss something? The GXP is lightyears better, the GT wasn't offered in a 6 speed manual the GXP was theres a pretty big difference right there. The LS3 is a nice beast over 400 hp and 400 ft lbs and looks better IMO. I definitely voted the GXP for sure.

I only said GXP because its newer but for the price range, ur better off with a G8 GT 2008. Swap out the entire stock suspension and your good to go.. unless you like the soft bouncy feel when you hit a pot hole...

I love the GXP looks, inside and out, just wish the vehicle was a bit more "user friendly"... everythings in the way of everything on it.

If your keeping it, i'd say G8, if its a company vehicle, screw it, go Impala SS...

I dont know about the GXP being "light years better." Sure it has a way more powerful engine and some facia work, but it is basically the same car. Plus the sticker for it right now is still a little to high. You can get a New G8 GT for about 10k less and pocket that money or add some headers and exhaust :th_biggrin2:

But you know UR, you are gonna drive that "Business" car to death :th_nanana: If I had a GT as my "business car" I would totally forget about my poor GTX, she would be stuck outside in the elements while the new G8 basks in the glory of my garage. :th_depressed:

hmm... seems lots of "women" like the new G8... I just like its looks... I respect the performance of the GXP... its a step in the right direction for the "New" Pontiacs... but i still think it needs LOTS of work... I agree with GeddyLee... go GT, and pocket the other 10K... =]

lol, I had been thinkig that over actually. which car would sit outside.... that is another moral dilema that I will have to think about in the short future..:o
