How much power do i have

gp3800t

ok i have a 03 grand prix gt 70k on the engine, i was wondering if ne 1 can give a estimate on how much hp 2 the crank and my 1/4 time... just a guess ......... mods, zzp ssm90 sc kit(billet fuel rails, machined lower intake, machined gen 3 supercharger) ,3.8 pulley,180 stat, 3inch downpipe with high flow cat, dynomax catback, autolite 103 plus, msd 8.5mm wires, gtp injectors,k&n air intake, zzp pcm 1.0 ssm90 tuning with gtp injectors... i know you wont know the exact but i just cant wait to go to the track but it doesnt open for like 2 months so if some one will just give me there guess..

my guess would be 260 to the crank and a mid to low 13 sec time with the right tires. You will never know until you try :th_winking:

Low-13's with a stock pulley?!?

This is an SSM90 GT car, so a stock sized pulley is like a GTP is on a 3.2-3.3.

I'm going to guess 275ish. I didn't see headers or a power log. You may want to invest in a P-Log to go with your 3" DP. That'll open it up a bit!

You think he gained 60HP while still running the stock pulley?

Stock pulley does a hell of a lot on a top swapped car. But you're right. I thought I saw rockers or some sort of valve train mod and a Plog (aka, thinking of my mods for the top swap). More like 275-280.

QwikGT is at nearly 300WHP on a 3.4 and an intercooler.

My car is similar, and I'd guess 230 - 250 hp at the crank, but I run 15.00 at the track, so I'd say you'll run a high 14 and maybe a mid if you are really good at driving on the track..... without an exhaust mod or rockers, the High compression holds timing down, which keeps us around stock GTP times until we can add more mods, QuickGT is at the level to take advantage of the high compression..... the 103's may be a little cold, I run cut back electrode 104's and have a little better MPG's

Wow, that almost makes me want to toss mine on the dyno to see what pops up!

But you're not going to see that (on that large of a pulley at least). Top swapped/ SSM90 kit cars (L36 blocks) have higher compression which means you can make more power on less boost, and that also magnifies the effects of other mods.

Damn, I thought yours was faster than that. I can hit a low 15 (almost into the 14s) as it is right now. Top swapped it's 13s or it'll feel like a waste of money.

Wait your only running 15's? What's your 60'? Because a tuned topswap car should be faster than a stockish GTP (mid to high 14's).

whoa whoa whoa 15's on your top swapped gp?!?! how much were you spinning? If i run a 15 when i get mine on, I would cry then trade it in for a honda chivic ;)

I was running 15.00 @ 93mph, so I had high 14 sec trap speeds, I had way too hot spark plugs (TR6xi then, now I have back cut A104's)and I had done a poor job tuning, I was just beginning to learn how to tune, I had only adjusted timing and fueling from 4k and up..... If I went to the track now, with my 100x better tune, I assume that I'd run a 14.6 or faster..... But I have basically a stock top swap, many stock GTP's run in the 14.9-15.1 range, so I don't think it was that bad.......I'll bet with a canned tune he cannot run faster than a 14.5 - 14.7, sorry, but the higher compression makes more power on the same boost, but you can only take advantage of that with more mods than an intake and a DP..... Headers, ported mani's, or a Plog will help greatly, remember a top swap is a 100% intake mod, it will only give you great gains (like into the 13's) with a decent set of supporting mods......

With my headers, and a 3.6 or 3.5, I plan on being in the 13.8 - 14.1 range.... Hopefully this summer

Very true. That's why I did the LIM, SC, and TB porting first. That, combined with 1.9 rockers, and already having a plog and 2.5" DP, I'm hoping for good things. :)

That combo, I could see getting into the 13's, While scanning, I can actually see when my Exhaust becomes a restriction (3320 RPM roughly on my motor) I believe with exhaust work, there is a lot to be had with the top swap without having to use small pullies

I'm starting on the 3.8" and going to see how tuning goes. It's modular, so swapping to another size is cake.

Nice, after my headers go in(they have been in my room since early January) I'm gonna get a modular hub, and try a 3.6, and maybe a 3.5 pulley, we will see how well my motor likes the headers :th_thumb-up:

I'm going to get (most likely) Pacesetters eventually. After the top swap the next big project is a TEP trans. I don't see mine being too happy with me for too long. I put a shift kit in it to keep it from burning up the clutches. Now it's up to the hard parts.

That is what I was thinking. I know compression helps, but it is not the end-all-be-all folks seem to be making it out to be. Thank you for chiming in with the experience!

No prob :)...... I gained .8 from my last track outing, so my car is much faster than it was.... just not 13's fast yet
