Regal GS top swap

So i was at the wrecker looking for torque star rims for my '98 GT, and i found a '01ish Regal GS with the rear end smashed up. Can i top swap this onto my car? What kinda hours do you think are involved in the swap by a mechanic?

youre willing to pay someone to do everything for you? youre probably best off finding a local who will do it and not at a shop. youre going to get raped for labor on that.

Alright, so if I top swap it, then i can put the supercharger on it too?

Make sure you use a supercharged PCM or get yours tuned. The PCM for the non-supercharged cars is very aggressive and you'll blow you're engine with a supercharger on it. If you use the supercharged car's PCM, you'll need your VIN programmed into it.

leave the supercharged vin. cant program a supercharged motor with a non supercharged vin with hptuners.

i have an l67 VIN and motor .bin with an l36 tranny .bin. a friend of mine who does the tuning said they had a hell of a time getting everything straightened out with another l67 GT because he still was using his GT VIN.

That doesn't make any sense. It's all one file. Maybe they copied the tables from one into the other, but it's still all one .bin.

If he's using HPTuners that may be. Never heard of that problem with the DHP PT.

Ok better deal $600 CDN, full top swap and pcm swap including parts from another local wrecker. A set of highly polished torque stars for $150 and whatever else i want from the car for free.

Ask him how much to do a engine/tranny/pcm swap from your car to that car. He'd probably only ask a couple hundred bucks depending on the miles of each and you dont have to tear into your engine. I think you'll need the axles too. Bam, you have a gtp without a boost guage thinger on your DIC.

I've got boost in my DIC, I know alot of them don't though.
I will definitely look into doing everything.

Another question, would i need a different Ignition Control Module?
The car that's there doesn't have one anymore.

nope, they are the same. you just need the coil pack bracket because the GT one doesnt have an idler spot.

ICM is the same, I believe. Coils are better on the L67, but it shouldn't make that much difference.
