Hey everybody... i'm a car owner again. I'm Kimberley from California and i just became the owner of a 1999 Grand Prix GTP Coupe. Bought her 8 days ago, she's a beauty.
Back in March 2021 i wrecked our BMW coupe and have been saving ever since to buy another car. Well I did it. Never imagined the car i'd buy would be more than 20 years old. But it is and she's a keeper. So thrilled! My car is black with yellow stripes from bumper to bumper. They are vinyl and removeable so i'm thinking about changing them to dark pink.
It has almost 171,000 miles, all service records from 1999, never failed a smog test, never been wrecked and has a clean title. I'm the 2nd owner. Well actually I'm the third owner because the 1st owner who lives in Oregon transferred title to his grandson who lives in California for the purpose of selling the car. Still, i consider myself the 2nd owner. Wouldn't you? The grandson had the car 4 months, did some maintenance (at a shop), then listed her for sale. I'm telling you-- this car is awesome. I love it.
I joined my first forum about 15 years ago when I had a friends Camaro to maintain while he was driving a semi truck. It was the best place for this girl to learn and not be intimidated or feel stupid. There was a wealth of information that saved me money and time. None of that compares to the confidence that grew in me after I successfully accomplished repairs and general maintenance tasks. It was empowering then and it still is. I don't drive that car anymore but that experience made me a fan of car forums. I join one every time I get a new (used) car. I'm excited to become a part of this Grand Prix forum.
