04 GTP stalled out and now won't crank

Its been a while since I’ve posted anything since I haven’t had much time to do anything with my
04 GTP. My car has been sitting in the driveway for the past several (6-9) months and I’ve been
starting it to let it run for a while to keep all of the fluids flowing and to keep the battery charged.
Here’s the order of events of my current issue.

1. Started car and it ran for 2-3 minutes
2. Noticed weird odor while I was walking around car. Almost like burning rubber or electrical wire. At first I chalked it up to the new catalytic I installed but I think it was something else under the hood. Never found cause of
odor.
3. Car stalled.
4. Noticed message on DIC ..CHARGING SYSTEM FAILURE
5. Car will not start. Car will not even crank. Do not hear fuel pump prime and no fuel
pressure
6. Attempted to jump start and also eventually replaced the battery and still no crank.
(Battery is good)
7. Removed crank relay and used jumper wire in place of relay and starter would crank.
(Starter is good)
8. Removed belts and put wrench of crank and was able to turn crank so I'm assuming it's not seized.

Does anyone have a suggestion to what the next step would be to check? I’m not sure why it
stalled and suddenly now it won’t even crank. Would this be an issue with the ignition?

that relay might be bad if you jumped it and it cranked. you hear a click from the dash when you try to crank it? if so it could be the starter, or bad battery cables. if you can see bare wire at the ends the cable can be shot. them 04 ups got that odd neg post with other stuff to it. make sure its clean and all tight and the cables are good off it.

When you turn the key, it's completely quiet. No noises at all. No ticking. No clicking. Like I said, I also don't hear the fuel pump prime up. Also checked on the fuel rail and there's no fuel pressure.

id test for power at the pump. make sure the fuse is good, unplug the pump, with a simple test light, now heres where you need a pal. even a small child can help. you need someone to turn the key to run as your testing, the pump will only get power for 3 to 5 seconds to prime the engine, after that nothing till it fires up. so be on your mark.

if you find power plug it back in, have you helper turn the key and have your hand on the fuel pump, if its running you'll feel it vibrate, if you feel nothing, pound on it a few times and try again. if it now works, replace it. its dead for sure. hitting it can shock it back to life. you can also bang on the bottom of the tank for this test.

Do you think that would be causing it to not even crank. The starter isn't even engaging. I'm wondering if it something bigger that would make everything fail.

I'll give the fuel pump a shot and see what I get. Probably not going to get to it until the weekend.

Thanks

you can with a test light again, touch the little stud with the purple wire on the starter only, then have that helper turn the key to crank, when the key is turned to crank that little wire should have 12 volts to it. if it dont have power it could be ignition harness related.

if you bridge the little stud and the pos cable's stud with a screwdriver, thats called jumping the starter, it will crank if the starter works, regardless if the key is off or on.

Hate to bring up an old thread, but my 07 gt is currently doing this.. Dont even hear the throttle body flicker or fuel pump prime. Did you ever get it figired out by chance? Kinda leaning towards battery cables, but dealership thinks it could be the pcm..

I had same problem I had to change the 15 amp fuse under the hood for the fuel pump and she fired right up.

Try changing the 15 amp fuse under the hood for the fuel pump. That's what I did and she fired right up
