Can someone save a .bin to .hpt for me? 2003 GTP

Hey guys,

So it's pretty common knowledge that HPT has removed the ability to read .bin files from their software, which unfortunately I had updated prior to being aware of this, which wasn't a problem until now. I needed to use tiny tuner to edit a couple parameters that HPT doesn't support.

I also thought it was, "common knowledge" that HPT support would resave your file as .hpt at your request in a support ticket. Well, they flat-out refused to do so for me.

"[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]Thank you for contacting support (my name)

Unfortunately this is not a service we currently offer."

I'll go ahead and try installing an old version of HPT on a virtual machine when I get home (not sure if this will work, because I believe they also update the firmware on the cable), but in the meantime...anyone with unlimited 2003 GP license to help me out?

Thanks in advance.

the drop box in the tuning section has the old hpt file that will read a bin file.

Yep, I did indeed see that. My concern is, when I hook up my interface with updated firmware, will it be able to read it and show my current licensed vehicles, allowing me to modify/resave the file? I haven't had to do this since the updates.

it's been a while since I've used the 2.24 version of HP TUners, but it should work just fine to download your tune. if you need to use tiny tuner, your best bet is to find someone that has a DHP

what he needs to do is find a dhp bin with his osid change its vin # to his with that hack i got posted in the repository thread. do his TT work, save it, then open it with hpt save it has a hpt file, then copy his tune to the new file and flash it.

Scotty has it right. This is exactly what I did, and what I'm doing. I'm just hung up on the last step, because newer HPT won't open bins anymore with the new version.

P.S. Scotty... last I checked, you need to fix the link with the Vin and Serial# change. Not a problem for me, because you and I figured it out initially.

It's frustrating, I get that HPT wants to preserve their work by using protected files. But if they flat-out refuse to allow people to change the parameters they need to change, not offer full functionality in their software...they really don't give us much choice but to find workarounds.
