6 disc changer works in place of regular base radio?

I found a clean reman 6 disc changer radio for my 04 GP on ebay. The plugs are the same, so im sure the answer is yes, but does it all plug in and work with no issue with a car that had a regular 1 disc radio?

Since I don't have an 04+ I can't say for sure, but I thought there was an issue where the dealer had to program it for a different vehicle security code? I'd check on that first. I've seen a few "bypasses" where a chip is de-soldered from the board, but I don't know for sure if this works and what the "side effects" would be.

The ad listing says its been unlocked. But not a big deal since I work for a dealership chain and can walk across the property to the GM side for a tech2 tool

Nice! In that case, sounds like a deal! Shouldn't be any issues!

Well it's installed today. It all works fine sounds even louder than before too. Though it's supposed to be am unlocked radio, it does flash up "calibrate" every time its turned on. Google search reveals nothing except ppl complaining of the message and they aren't getting any sound.

Awesome! I've heard of people "unlocking" it by removing the security chip which causes symptoms like this. Odds are, they removed it. I'll see if i can't find some posts or videos, but glad it's at least working some!

Someone referenced using the tech2 to perform a radio setup. Since you work for a dealer it shouldn't be that hard to do I'm assuming? Idk never used tech 2 yet
