ok so my fuse box is making like a clicking noise i can hear in the throttle body and the p/train relay #40 and there is like a tapping or pulsing noise coming from the fuel pp relay #41 the noises stop if the relay is removed but check engine light stays on all the time the car is off and key is in my pocket any info would be appreciated thanks in advance

its draining myt battery i can still start and drive ,y car ill get back to u in a lil with the codes that i get

fuse box getting hot? it smell burnt? if so you need to take the box off the fender and open it to see the back side where all the wires go in. cars have caught fire from a bad fuse box. so unhook the battery when parked to be safe if you smell or feel heat from it.

i don't think the box is getting hot the to relays r the p/train relay make the throttle body i think the part attatched to the sc click

ok so i hooked up my scanner and heres what i got P0443, C0247, C0050 right rear wheel speed sensor, c0550 ecu performance

that last one means you need a new ebcm. it controls the brakes, makes sense now huh?

the 443 is a evap code, the rest are abs related. bad ebcm could cause them.

Scotty is on the money there. The problems could be unrelated though. Best way to tell if anything is shorting out and draining is to with the battery off, measure the current draw across the battery when charged, if it's above 500mA, you have a problem. You'd then want to pull most all the fuses and leave your multimeter hooked up and look every time you add a fuse. You'll see the amperage spike when the bad circuit's fuse is plugged in. Now you know what circuit to look for issues. I have most all wiring diagrams once you find the circuit.

I would still start with checking the relay though.

is the ebcm interchangeable with one from another car like can i go to the junk yard and pull one out of another car and just put it in mine or r they vin specific or would it need to be reprogrammed .

Not sure on the later models like yours, but I'm 90% sure you have to have that programmed by the stealership for around $60-100.

theres no dealer bs for the ebcm, its mounted on the abs pump next to the master cylinder. snag a jy one swap it in there.

or take yours off and send it out for repair or try to repair it your self if you ok with soldering a board some. seen a vid on how to fix the one in my tahoe, looks easy enough.

you can take it off and still drive the car too.

heres a how to, a 05 should be about the same looking. How To (Un)Install EBCM

Lol sorry! Thanks for setting me straight Scotty! I knew this was the case for the older models like mine. Good to know!

And yeah, I repaired mine using that method. Though it ended up showing even more codes! Haha ended up having to grab one anyhow.

97 is once again the odd ball year. my 98 has the same master and abs pump, my regal ebcm is in the d/s kick panel, in my case and a 97 id think you need the part# to match or it wont work.

ok so i swaped out the ebcm and the abs lights and **** go off but come bak on every once in awhile when I'm driving but when i turn car off and back on later they r off again and with the fuse box making noise and my throttle body wirerless throttle contraption stoped making noise i fix that it was my oil level sensor wires were ****ed up and must of been sorting out or sumthing i put new connector on and pluged in after cleaning up the wires and whala!!

Interesting! Though looking at the schematics, they do share common sensor grounds so that makes sense. Hopefully that's all that was shorting! Glad you found the issue!
