Northstar throttle body w/ lq4 n/a

Alright, so to preface, yes I know n/a won't take advantage of this swap at all, but I'm kind of slowly piecing together my turbo setup, and just got ahold of all the parts I need, so I want to do the swap now rather than wait.

Problem is, everyone has tunes and examples for L67, but I can't find anything for n/a. I'm new to hp tuners, so I might need a little hand holding... lol

you don't need a northstar tb even for turbo application. and a number of people have had issues with the LQ4 maf exploding when paired with a turbo.

you use the same file for the n* as you would for a sc or turbo.

if you look at the same year bin as your car but na engine, its the same file iirc.

if your using dhp i got bin with a good n* maf file for a stock engine, theres a few of em out there, not all the same. the ones with higher values are likely for a camed set up.

it's pretty simple to swap a maf file, really just a copy and paste. it would be a good idea to familiarize yourself on doing a maf adjustment because once you load the new maf file it will probably need a few adjustments.

Yeah. I know you don't need it. Probably just eating money, but hey, I got the parts cheap! Lol

Ok! Guess that makes sense though. Doesn't matter how fast the air is coming in. I'm sure I can figure out how to swap the files. Happen to have a file for 2002 gt for use with hp tuner?

Very true. I thought you had to modify the iat, maf, tps, and other things? You use everything from the northstar and the iat is built in to the lq4 right?

that i dont have. im limited on hpt stuff. you'll have to find a bin on the hpt forum repository for a n* bin, then copy it. the last owner that sold it to you make sure you get his password for the unit if he registered it there on site. its the only way to dl files there.

Thanks! Are we allowed to post the bin here if I modify it to help others in the future?

And yes. Fortunately the prior owner was great and let me log in and change everything with him there, then I downloaded the software and tested everything! :)

your all set then. seen them sold and assholes dont give that info. now you cant use it over there, and that blows.

you can upload here in the tuning section, not sure if they ironed out the .hpt file yet or not. you'd have to try it out. iirc theres directions how to up load a file too

I'm one of those, do NOT use the lq4 maf for turbo. Use a aluminum lt1 or LS1.

Haha thanks! I really don't know what I have. It's metal on one side but plastic on the other? Either way I'll just change it when I go turbo, but that's a ways off... lol

Bin is already in HPT if you look for it.

I'd probably look at 99 Bonneville, say mine :th_thumbsup-wink:

My thought is.. you gonna get an adapter just for an L36 or are you L26?

Hey Bill! Are you talking on hptuners? I saw one for a super high boost cam swap or something L32 one, but wasn't sure if the tables were safe?

And got an adapter for L26. I'll take a look at your Bonneville tune though!

Might also need some dimensions on the throttle bracket since I'm gonna make my own. Lol
