2000 Grand Prix won't go over 2k rpms

So I recently replaced the transmission from the car and when I go to shift it into gear it wants to die. And when I give it gas, it won't go over 2k rpms. When I give it gas while it's in park, it does nothing so I don't think it could be a fuel issue, I'm guessing a electrical issue but I checked all the connectors and their in all the way.

Unplug the MAF, try again.

If the car behaves normally you need a new MAF.

If there are any CEL's, get a scanner and read those. Or, if it was fine before the trans swap, take it back to the shop that did it and tell them to fix it since it was fine before hand.

I took the MAF out and it acted the same. I even cleaned it and put back in. It idles fine but when I give it gas it won't go over 2k rpms.

I was the one who did the trans swap. Thought it would be easy.. I thought wrong. I'll have to wait to get a obd2 reader so I can read the codes.

Any other suggestions?

I got it from my local junkyard, they said yes a 2002. But I wouldn't think that would be a issue since any from 97-03 are the same

and what year is your car? cause they are not "all the same"

damn it, its in the title lol 2000 and a 02 should work fine.

Right now I can't drive it because I lowered the car and popped the front two tires on a couple nails so it's on jackstands. Both the old transmission and the new one are 4T65E. Next Friday I'm going to go rent a obd2 reader to see if there's any codes. But there's no CEL.

lift the wheels off the ground and put it in drive and reverse. make sure you use the brakes to stop the wheels before putting it in park or another gear.
