• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

W-bodies missing from you pull its. The end is near.

I've been hitting the local yards and noticed that almost all the places that had an abundance of 97-04 Grand Prix's etc are gone. A good amount of Bonnevilles and 05+ Grand Prix's are hanging around still. I guess the amount of people looking for parts on these cars is getting lower and they are getting crushed sooner. I know my car was already scrapped I dropped off in less than a month. 05-10 Grand Cherokee Parts are hell to find as well.

Most of them get picked clean for the popular stuff. Once the motor/trans and the interior is gone they are just taking up space.

They make more money off newer model vehicles too, so that's another reason they crush the older vehicles.

Lucky my yards still have a bunch. Now finding good mid-80's Crown Vic parts, that's getting hard. Trying to find trim is almost impossible anymore and they're not valuable/popular enough to have any repro's being made, not even body panels. I have noticed a huge lack of 92-96 Bonneville's in my yards tho. Was looking for something for my 95 and I had to hit 3 places.

Showing 7 in a local yard here, ranging from '90-'05. They did have more, but I find when you look at this kind of thing, they come in waves, so wait for the next wave of drunks and idiots to wreck their W-bodies. LOL

Haven't been yarding in a year or so myself but must say I did notice that the emphasis seemed to have switched to having plenty of 04+. Because let's face it, 03 back is stuff you can't hardly give away at this point. Some yards may be starting to fast forward them to the crusher now, after pulling working mechanicals.

It is kind of weird the last time I was at a salvage yard was the day I got rid of my GP, I was looking for a factory radio for the GP since all of mine( I had two someplace) disappeared.

Any New Englander's around? There is a 40th in the Johnston RI pick n pull. I snagged the roof rails and a set of 40th floor mats which I will sell. The seats are still there in pretty good shape. The badges were gone and heat extracters and spoiler was broken.

We've got a full stable of 3800's over here. 05 & 06 GP base, and an 05 Monte LT. Formerly owned '00 & '03 GP's and an '89 Buick Electra Park Avenue... all 3.8's

You are correct. It won't be long before parts for a 97-03 Grand Prix become really hard to find. No one is saving these cars like collector cars for parts. Basically once they hit the Junkyard its only a matter of time before they are crushed for the scrap value. Each Junkyard has a time line on how long they hold a car for parts before scrapping it for the scrap value.

The only good news is mechanical interchange for these vehicles span many more years and models. The bad is specific parts for these cars will soon be extinct.

Luckily, my area has a bunch in all directions. The town where she works a guy gots four 04+ sitting in his yard at home, lol

I recently acquired an 01 SE. It's got about 50k miles on it and it's still in great condition. In my area I see tons of these GPs in the yards still. It's much harder to find the SEs I have noticed. I hope to keep this car for at least 5 years, so hopefully it won't be a problem.

In my area of Florida there is tons of W-Bodies, and all sorts of other vehicles with 3800 engines. I think we'll be good for awhile, sorry to hear your area is dry though.
