• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Seems car God is looking favorably in my plans to fix my car.

So picked up the 04 GT2, rod knocking but still running. So through the last couple months or so since buying I have found, fixed, and swapped/sold 2 engines.
So been trying to scare up another good deal, but I had to use some of my money on living.
Anyway, I found a conversion intake to run Gen V on N/A engine. Also found source on Gen V blowers for $76 plus shipping.
My buddy has a car that came in spewing water. Turns out the other shop sold head gaskets yet car has rusted out rockers. Its an 03 but has fresh GM short block from GM with low miles. Reason new gaskets failed was other shop reused head bolts.
From tag on short block the short block is listed as 05+ replacement. Has aluminum pan and all.
My buddy is pretty sure he can swap car for an old one he picked up that needed some work and customer just left for bill.
Also this car may have low miles reman trans that I can swap/sell/use.
Just trying to get list of parts together that Ill need to swap in blower. I already picked up tuner so I can tune. Also looking for headers/exhaust.
My theory is to snag this shortblock, give it once over, freshen up my heads and slap it together. I have several tunes from dropbox downloads so I hope I can get everything dialed in to live.
Dont intend to beat it hard but would like a bit of performance. and will try to make it look decent.
I like building cars to drive. Used to build everything I drove. But had some bad times in last few years.
Hoping to get this car on road before September as we have local cruise/show and figure its old enough. Unless my 66 Caprice is drivable.

Odd I have seen several cars use same intake, gen V , return, exhaust mode push over 300 with out issue. What's garbage about the intake. I mean its not like I intend to push for huge numbers just decent drivability.

Because it all runs off one belt and you're pulley limited; A GenV on a high comp motor with nothing else but exhaust isn't making 300~ anything. The reality of it is like 250~. Valvetrain mods like rockers or a cam will push you around 270-280 to the tire. Intercooler might get you to 300~ on an SSM90. Maybe E85. Top swaps are the way to go.

Top swap is the way to go. Easy, simple, can knock it out in a weekend. Swap motors or swap heads up from a GTP. Many threads on here about it. I am at 300 but it took top swap, cam, headers, 60 injectors, 3.0 pulley, E85 to get there.

From whatt I read it's simply a genV intake with injector bungs. Nothing really different except the injectors are in the intake.
My plans are regular drive setup if I can locate all the parts. So far two of critical parts are still available. Just waiting on funds.

Been there done that. Just finishing up a POS DeVille reseal, was leaking between lower crankcase and oil manifold Plate that between lower crankcase and oil pan. AND two main bolts broke off in block. But we got them out with left hand drill bit. And didn't have to drop lower crankcase! Car was miss estimated, and now kicking my ass with the heat too.

are you sure you want to do the ssm90 top swap? your options will be limited in the future if that is the route you go. you will not be able to intercool it.

like blueguy said, I would stay away from the ssm90 swap.

No not ssm swap, JUST intake and rails. Still genV intake, found SC from lkqonline for $88 shipped. Then just need belt drive parts. Either bought or fabricated. Balancer is easy to source.

not sure why you would need to fabricate anything, all of it can be found for cheaper than it would cost to make.
