Hello, I would like to turbo charge my grand prix however the only kits I have found run around 2k+. I would like to build my own kit if any of y'all have any suggestions/part list I would love to hear it!

P.s. I know there are other posts on Google however i would like 04 gp specific with people who have experience with this ride or body style. :)

My disclaimer is I drive a non turbo car. I drive an 04 but a turbo is a turbo on these cars. Anything can happen

But 2 grand is about right isn't it for the low end, unless you have serious pipe fabbing skills.
Keep watching for people dumping useless Grand Prix parts and nabbing up the parts from your hit list.
By the time that happens maybe?you will have read possibly enough info to give it a go. Sheer determination will give you the best results

But I think every 3800 dude will tell you to grab a tuner and learn how to tune your current setup first. You will need it regardless.
And then there is the transmission discussion.......

He might still have his turbo setup for sale..http://www.grandprixforums.net/thre...-trans-Bilsteins-Ported-NA-Heads-TEP-Cam-More

That's a set I just finished welding.

I have lots of recommendations, but I would first need to know some details.

How much power do you want to make? How reliable do you need your car? How much do you want to spend?

I just priced out some of the parts for the front engines turbo headers and we're going to spend almost six hundred bucks just in stainless tubing and a couple V bands.
And that's with me being able to waterjet out three-quarter inch stainless flanges and CNC machine 3 pairs of them with a 25 degree upward angle for the primary tube to remove the hard turn at the exhaust Port exit that almost all setups have.
It does look like Medusa will finally see the light of day but being that we want to use a 76 mm......

I'm currently running a gt1 with stock exhaust and a cone air filter but everything else is stock(by choice, for now). So i would assume I currently make around 200hp( according to stats) I would like to easily see a 50 increase but don't want to push it too far so I would say 300ish would be my max. I want it reliable so again I don't want to over do it.
As for budget, right now I'm feeling out my options because I'd rather spend less than the 3k zzp requires.

A stock trans will last a long time at 300hp, provided that you don't beat the **** out of it.

300hp is super easy to get. My next questions are what type of fuel do you want to run and can you weld?

it does suck when your mods cost more then what you paid for your car lol i got mine for $800 7 years ago. i passed that mark a long time ago in mod funds.

Ugh. I paid $4700 for my Stealth way back in 02. I definitely put that into it before it got parked. I'll probably have near that into it again getting it back on the road, but at least everything is going to be new.

I figured it would last decently at 300hp.

Fuel type doesn't matter so much, and I cannot weld however I'm sure I could get some welding at a decent cost.

Also please note my trans was rebuilt 50k miles ago

In that case, I would switch to e85 and 60lb injectors. Find a pt61 or 6262 turbo and have a shop weld it to your crossover, and weld up a 2.5" downpipe. Then all you need is a pipe to connect the compressor outlet to the throttlebody. You'd need a wastegate and Bov welded in too.

Without being able to weld, it's probably cheaper if you just watch the classifieds for a used kit.
