Hey all,

I installed a Sony GT56UI headend into my car around a year and a half ago with a harness and it worked great, however since recently it sometimes it never outputted any sound during the day however it would work in the morning, now it never works at all. The car is a 02 Grand Prix GT with the Bose system; would appreciate any advice to help narrow down the issue

It works in the morning when cold, but maybe not when warm?

Could be the deck. Do you have another one to try?

Edit: If you have Monsoon/Bose, the old amps go out.

Tested with my factory radio and there is no sound; any way i can test if it's the amp? it's the bose system

EDIT: It used to work when cold, but now it doesn't at all

Bose amp is located in or under the glove box iirc. The symptoms you describe line up with a dead amp.

Bose amp is in the trunk slightly offset to the left under the rear deck where the speakers are

That would be a Monsoon amp for 04-08. OP is talking about a Bose system in earlier models and that amp is located behind the glove box. However I could be wrong about the Bose amp, never had one.

97-98 delco 8 speaker was behind glovebox 99+ bose was in the trunk I've had cars with both

Took out the bose amp, the capacitors don't appear blown, however there is a decent amount of corrosion on the heatsink; the door chimes work also which is weird; are they not connected to the amp?
