Front end creaking noise

My son has a 2007 GP Base with about 210K miles. I was driving it today, and I noticed when you start to take of slowly you hear a creaking noise coming from the front end. And if you punch it from a dead stop, it's more like a big clunk. Whatever it is, it doesn't sound good at all. Could it be a wheel bearing, tie rod?? Hopefully nothing to do with the tranny.

Prolly just the springs unloading, rust on rust. When's the last time it got new struts ? Proper diagnosis would require jack & wiggle both front wheels, checking for play in ball joints, hub bearings, tie rod ends.... turn your head and cough...

We've had the car for 4 years and the struts haven't been changed. From the looks of it, they never have been. Is there a good way to check if it's the struts?

Leaking, excessive rebounding after pushing down on front of car a few times then letting go. Good struts will settle motion fast, worn ones will allow more pogo-ing. Other things could be motor mounts, sway bar and lower control arm bushings, ball joints......with those miles many things could be worn out...

Kinda my thought on it, too. You could take it in or shake things to look for the major issue(s), or start replacing what you can one thing at a time.

My front end will probably be pretty shot before I get to it. I think right now my LCA's need the most attention.

Without more detail than a sound, it's kinda hard to tell what's totally worn out on your 07.

Yeah. I'll try and get it on jack stands and take the wheels off to inspect boots, play, etc. Thanks for the replies.

Ok. This creaking is driving me nuts. I changed the transmission mount, and have wiggled and jiggled, and cannot figure this thing out. Could be the engine mount, but it looks like a real pain in the keester to change on the '07. I noticed this morning with the radio off, you can even even hear the creaking/rattling sound as you shut the car off, and the engine shakes to a stop.
