2006 Grand Prix Timing chain scraping on front cover

As the title says the timing chain is scraping on the front cover. We've changed the timing chain and gear and put on a ZZP Double thick gasket and it still scrapes. When we tore it apart to change the timing chain gasket because it was leaking it didn't scrape so I have no idea why it is now scraping, the noise isn't coming from anything belt related either, What could it be scraping on? I'm clueless.

Are you sure you got the timing chain/gear set pushed all the way onto the camshaft and crankshaft? That's the only thing I can think of.

Right. I'm not sure that's where the noise is.

Its pushed back all the way.

It is scraping on the oil pump cover.

Brand new

A stock chain should never hit there. Does your crank have a lot of endplay?

No it doesn't move at all.

I had to change the timing chain cover gasket because it was leaking coolant from behind the cover.

At first I didn't change the timing chain but after it made the scraping noise I put a new chain on and after putting a new chain on it is still making the scraping sound.

I don't really know what else to tell you. There is a ton of room in there so it should never even be close to touching. Something has to be installed incorrectly.

Are you positive it's the chain and not one of the tabs on the back of the balancer that got bent and is hitting the crank sensor?
