Headers or stock manifolds POLL

Headers or manifolds -which make more power

he just got a wb a few weeks back. and a new o2 months ago.

i found a N* file that actually works right out the box, its very close to what he has now after we maf tuned it. when he does the 42 injectors and short stack ic ill send him that file and the injector file. with any luck it all falls in place nice with minimal tuning after the fact.

What about the front manifold on these cars? I am in no way saying that ZZP is correct on this info but this is from their PLOG page
"In an effort to put out the best possible PEMs we've researched and hit a wall. The problem lies in the front header piece. Opening the inlet as people are isn't doing anything because the inlets are already 1.53" (as big as the port in the head). The problem is the lower section of the manifold. It's 2" OD and 1.63" ID. At that section you're sharing with the other ports.Trying to exhaust all 3 front cylinders out of a single 1 5/8" pipe is crazy. It's no wonder so many people pop front pistons and have questionable gains from other PEMs on the market. The rear manifold and crossover aren't as bad. Notice the crossover is also 2" OD, like the front mani, but because it's thin wall you get 1.91 ID. So, the front mani is the narrowest section of the exhaust, giving you 2.09 sq/in of exhaust area. The crossover and rear manifold are up to 2.89 sq/in. So the front manifold section is over 30% smaller than the entire rest of the manifold network and it's the only section that guys selling PEMs aren't doing!"

You need to think of the exhaust as pulses, not solid flow. That's exactly what it is. The motor is not stuffing 3 cylinders of exhaust through the manifold at the same time. At the very most, there is a maximum of 2. But they are timed differently. So, it's most likely just one at a time anyways.

Also remember that exhaust gasses are cooling drastically, which take up less space.

If it was a restriction, you'd see a benefit from removing it.

Yes but this doesn't prove what we are talking about, it has been stated a million times that they don't add any power. What were his mods prior to this? Was he able to mod more further?

the fact that guy thinks a egr weighs 4.5 lbs makes me call BS to that whole statement, clearly guys not doing it right. and the only time my headers have hit the ground was when i tested this out over a huge tall speed bump i took straight on.

and if he had 300 hp before headers,,,im not buying that either, and they added 5 hp, im willing to bet the headers killed off 5 hp worth of KR. dont see where hes tuning this 300 hp car with no mod list.

i got a bridge and a tunnel for sale if interested.

Iirc, his mods were just basic bolton's and e85. He wasn't able to mod farther because headers don't change anything.

You don't think the egr weighs that much? I've never weighed one, but it seems pretty heavy.

He had no kr. He was on e85.

Okay just curious because my best friends cousins former roommate bought a set and had completely different results

Who has legitimate Dyno results (mustang dyno preferred) showing that headers on a GTP make more power than manifolds and a downpipe?

This whole thread is about power.. Here's the first post...

I wrote an entire manifesto... But I'll shorten it and just say BS to the stock mani's over headers... 20+ years of modding the 3800 can't be swept under the rug. That's all I have to say!
