1967 grand prix headlight issue

I'm working on a 1967 grand prix and with the headlights on high beam, they will go off and on after a little while. I have cleaned all terminals and replaced the headlight switch with no success of fixing. Seems to be overheating the switch safety and it cuts the power off randomly. I'm not sure what to do next without just throwing parts at it.

Assuming you're talking about the one in the dash... Have you checked the switch in the floor?

Welcome to GPF. Dirty dimmer switch. Stomp on it a few times. Or replace the switch. They are about ten bucks at parts stores. Also visually inspect the harness and connector.

Yep they tried the expensive and difficult way first.

I am talking about the headlight switch in the dash. I have checked the floor dimmer and have actually bypassed it and the lights continue to flash.

I have checked all the wiring. I have tried by passing everything that I can to try and narrow the problem down with no luck. The switch has a safety inside it that opens when the circuit gets to hot. So I am losing power to the high beams from inside the switch, I just can not figure out why. I have run a new high beam wire to all the lights from the firewall. I have tried a new power source to the switch with no change. After about two minutes, the lights just cut in and out. Guess I need a wiring diagram so I can track all the wires down.
