Soon i will be getting rid of my Grand Prix and was thinkin about a gxp but they are soo hard to find in my area so i thought about a impala SS. Is it a good idea and what good mods can i do to one besides visual ?

Having nearly completed dealing with all the things that needed fixing on my 2001 GP GT, I'm left with a 15-year-old car with lots of squeaks and rattles. The Impala SS from the last few years is an amazingly fun car to drive, with gobs of power. I would expect that to be a very satisfying upgrade, if you're in the market for replacing an old GP.

ok cool , cause i'm really looking forward for a v8 for my next car and had two choices , one is rare in my area and ones not

Try searching outside of your area for the car you want. Don't settle. If you want a GXP, find one and go get it!

Somebody just flew from Pennsylvania to Kansas City to buy blueguy's GXP and he hadn't even posted it for sale. The guy saw it, left his number, and made an offer.

I'm actually from Philadelphia Pennsylvania and have thought about it but also thought it was too much and a lot of hassle to go thru. However, i really do want a gxp so maybe looking out of my area could be a good idea

Selling a car to someone in PA, sucks. I'll never do that sh1t again. If you're in the Philly area, my '05 is up there tooling around. Dark Cherry Metallic car that's otherwise stock looking and a little loud :) The guy that bought it said everything up there was trashed and the only way he was going to do it was fly somewhere and drive it home.

However if you don't have the money up front for a brand new transmission, don't buy one.

Because that's where you'll be as soon as you start driving the thing. Some people are lucky and do a tune/DOD shut off/pan drop/shift kit/big trans cooler and the motor/trans lasts. Mine sh1t the bed at 60k. And all it had was exhaust on it.

Mine had a fully done up transmission from Triple Edge Performance, had small bolt-ons, just rolled 77k miles...and I sold it for less than $10k. However if you can get a solid deal on one...like the 4-6k area...I'd jump on it and then just buy a built trans.

Yeah.

Research it.

They get hot and fail quickly if you're out there beating on it. Even normal driving they get toasty.
