The Blue One
Gonna bold these for you, pookie. I might have a little insight, since Spade hasn't personally owned one.
I'm not gonna sit here and beat a dead horse. You seem to like them, so bravo. After working on them...no thanks. I'd rather work on something that would actually net me some gains on a better platform. Hence why mine is getting sold.
Why u might have 3800 experience out the ass. Your ls4 knowledge or experience in ls4s seems nill
Leaking valve covers? No....that's a known 3800 faulthe not ls4 - Leaking oil pans seem to be fun? Wanna do that? Same as the 3800. VC's are simple maintenance along with intake gaskets. It's called a common known issue and easily fixed. You know what I love about my LS4? Rack and pinion, power steering pump, water pump, hubs...hmmm...same as a 3800 but basically worse to install. It's full of awesome.
The junk trans? Yea welcome to w body land. We all have the same issue with that. - Yeah, both have that issue, but not the heat issue. So continue there. I never saw temps north of 220* on ANY 3800 I've ever owned, even without a cooler.
Voltage problems? Never had issues with beyond operator error and lack of attention to detail when modifying the car. Well, my alternator damn near melted on mine. Bone stock ACDelco unit. So that was cool. No operator error, unless I magically changed the guts of mine to lava.
Burns oil yep easily remedied by turning off dod in the tune and utilized a catch can. op could do a non dod cam upgrade. With non dod lifters to eliminate the physical dod parts as I mentioned before. - Even with the DoD tuned out, the lifters will still be a ticking time bomb. Apparently you've never looked at an LS based website or any other LS motor with?
Tuned these cars have been in the high 260s whp intake and exhaust 290 intake swap and headers 310whp cam to utilize it all 340. That's not inflated.- Depends on the dyno. Depends on the tuner. I made 295/295 with a cold air, 3" downpipe/3" exhaust, the built trans, and E85. Probably makes no more than 270~ without ethanol.
